Newest trailer for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, this time featuring her origin story.

Really want this to be good, even if there are some... Snyder-ish flourishes there (gratuitous use of slow-motion, for example). Better use of humour and colour than the last three films at least. Plus all indications seem to suggest that Diana is idealistic and closer to her comics incarnation than the somewhat bitter version from Batman v Superman.

*Sigh* Here's hoping. It is frustrating to be a DC fan, what with their comics, animated stuff and characters being largely better than Marvel's, yet largely the films (which potentially reach more people than the comics will) aren't.

Eh better characters is debatable but than I'm a Marvel a fan, so I tend to find DC obnoxious half the time. As to the trailer I hope it does well. Ironically I wish the comics at Marvel was better but I find better enjoyment of the movies.

"But she must never know the truth about what she is."

A. Gail Simone did that first as a parody in a potential Wonder Woman movie.

B. Don't be the daughter of Zeus. Don't be the daughter of Zeus. Don't be the daughter of Zeus.

Slow-mo isn't the real problem, so I'll allow it and keep hope for now :)

When i hear epic theme songs for heroes, i think John Williams Superman theme and such, i just can't get behind that power ballad style theme for her. I was enjoying the trailer till that blared on. Otherwise it looks pretty good.

Yeah, I hate they keep going back to that for her, and it's most glaring in a movie primarily set in the past (I think first trailer had a few scenes set in the present, showing her looking at old photos at the Louvre).

Other than that, I liked this trailer most of the ones used so far.

Trying to care, trying, trying, trying....nope. Sorry. Unable to care, DC. Hit the reset button and rethink your franchise.

It really does look promising. Maybe it'll be good. Hell, maybe even great.

I still won't see it. Man of Steel killed any of my interest in this version of the DC Universe. I didn't see Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad and have no intention of breaking that streak.

Same. After Man of Steel I won't watch a DC movie unless it gets glowing reviews. So far that policy is working out really well for me.

I really want to support a Wonder Woman movie. I really really do. But until I hear beyond the shadow of a doubt that it's good, I can't.

If this movie flops and the JLA movie stinkbombs, the only hope for DC's movieverse is a total reboot. The problem is they've already conditioned people to expect their movies to stink. Funny how DC and the WB used to know how to make superhero movies, the last Nolanverse Bat-film not that long ago. Guess the answer to "What happened?" is "Zack Snyder."

This IS the reboot. Green Lantern was supposed to be the movie that kicked off the DCEU, but ... well, we saw how well that went.

If this movie flops and the JLA movie stinkbombs, the only hope for DC's movieverse is a total reboot.

Well, Suicide Squad, despite across-the-board critical panning, was a substantial commercial success. To quote Wikipedia (see there for references):

Suicide Squad was a box office success, grossing $325.1 million in North America and $420.5 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $745.6 million, against a budget of $175 million ($325 million including advertising and promotion costs). [...] It recorded a worldwide opening of $267.1 million from 59 countries and IMAX global debut of $18.2 million, both set new records for the month of August.

So from a financial perspective, at any rate, the outlook for the DCEU isn't totally bleak.

I am not a DC fan, and (hence?) I like the WW trailers very much and I'm definitely going to the cinema when the movie's released. An interesting mix of epochs *_* (I'd better not ask why amazons know English...)

I want this movie to do well, and (despite passing on the DCEU films to date) will go see it.

Why? Not to save the DCEU from commercial "failure" (see my comment above). Not to prevent a reboot.

I'm seeing it because we need to show Hollywood that a film starring a woman superhero--solo, not part of a male-focused team--can be commercially viable.

And if that happens, that'll lead to more Wonder Woman films. And in turn to films starring other women superheroes.

And if that happens, maybe Diana will finally get the respect she deserves within the comics itself. Like an epic story (serial or OGN) corresponding in sophistication to such works as The Dark Knight Returns and All-Star Superman. Like a more memorable rogues gallery. And maybe network TV will give her another go after the 2011 pilot NBC failed to pick up.

Everything you're talking about has been done already though. Just look at the success of the Underworld franchise, Xena, Buffy, Super girl, Tomb Raider video games, Resident evil films. It's not that Hollywood/fans don't appreciate female heroes, it's just that WW is kinda dull (coming from where I come from anyway) I want this movie to be successful, but, then again I could care less because WW is not the only game in town. Where are all the female heroes of color at? When's that gonna happen over at DC? WW isn't going to open any doors, because those doors have already been opened. We've been watching white women save the world for decades.

I just want something for my daughters and their Asian, and Hispanic friends to enjoy, I want someone that represents them on that big screen. This could have easily been a Vixen, or a Katana film. How about a Jessica Cruz solo film that bleeds into the Justice League?

Too much focus on the sword and shield, not enough on lasso and bracers. Sure, she uses the shield to bash away a grenade, but she could do that with the bracers as well, right?

They couldn't have made it Themyscira into an independent utopia thing? It could've made an epic Defend the Land scenario, like what happened during Matt Wagner's Trinity.

Still! Hoping this does well. Probably won't, but it won't stop me being a WW fan.

I will say that I'm interested in seeing this film; I don't really have high hopes tbh but it has at least sparked my interest. After Man of Steel I haven't been remotely interested in any of the DC movies at all. I have seen most of Suicide Squad and BvS at some stage anyway, and I didn't enjoy them at all.

Having said that, I REALLY wish "being fierce" wasn't being promoted as her primary characteristic here. Honestly, you could substitute Xena for Diana in this trailer and nothing would change. I love Xena, but Wonder Woman shouldn't be her. I get that's not specific to the film as it's where DC has taken her these days, but it just bugs me that the only way they can have confidence in her broader appeal is to mute the aspects which make her unique.

REALLY hating that they're stuck with Zeus as her father. Couldn't they have cut that out?

In recent years the comics haven't focused on her mission of peace, instead emphasizing her warrior side. Which, of course, goes against what her creator Marston was attempting to do with her: cut back on the fisticuffs (though she still zapped and powed when necessary) and featuret love as her primary message, not "I can beat up any man in the house."

Rebirth looks promising for her, though.

I will skip this movie I was always a fan of the Perez version, the ambassador of peace. This just doesn't seem like Diana more Xena. That and her being another Zeus does it again! just doesn't't do her character justice. Oh DC stop with The Snyder lighting effect, your attempts to dull any sense of color makes Logan seem bright.

I see what you're going for, but I never really saw any problems with the colour palette for Logan; in fact, I'm honestly surprised that for such dark material, it wasn't more washed out.

But.. That said, DC seems to have no idea what they want to go for visually; Man of Steel and to an extent, BvS used a very... Dark Knight-esque washed out colour scheme, although Nolan did it a lot better, and then here comes Suicide Squad which still uses that washed out palette but at the same time has all this bright, poppy bullshit going on and this acid-washed marketing campaign with the brightest colours I've ever seen for a superhero movie, and... Yeah. It's another example of how I don't think DC/WB know what they're doing.
