In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

Following last weeks horrible attack at the Houses of Parliament in London, Muslim women showed their solidarity with the rest of the British population in a powerful silent statement

I don't even know where to start on politics this week, so I'm just not going to.

A little late to report this, but LEGO have announced their LEGO Ideas set will be "Women of NASA". This will consist of five figures; Margaret Hamilton (Computer Scientist), Katherine Johnson (Mathematician and Space Scientist), Sally Ride (Astronaut and Physicist and Educator), Nancy Grace Ronan (Astronomer) and Mae Jemison (Astronaut, Physician and Entrepreneur). (Sally Ride is also the first known LGBT astronaut, though she kept her private life very private and it was not widely known prior to her death in 2012)

The new British one pound coin hits this week, a twelve sided coin which is intended to be harder to fake than the original pound coin.

The new coin, looks like something incredibly old fashioned. I'm sure that the people behind Empire 20 think that is a feature somehow. Reminding people of the times when we were isolated, mistreating the poor, and enduring some of the most legendarily corrupt governments in history. I wish I knew why so many people in the UK are so determined to be special.

I was in England during the introduction of the pound coin back in the day, and remember a certain amount of distaste for that version. There was even a 2000 AD story with that as a plot point.

I remember that joke, and thought of including it--but figured you already knew it.

They managed the introduction much better in Scotland than in England. We kept our pound notes well into the 1990s, I'm not sure when they stopped making them, and had the new coins and the old notes run in parallel for quite some time before quietly just banking the notes and only giving coins in change. It worked much better and gave everyone a feeling of choice in their currency.

God, yeah. The plastic fantastic. It is all kinds of useless, even if it is easier for the mint to make and the bankers to prevent faking. It is bloody useless to keep in your purse, and even worse in the pocket. I know they say we'll get used to it, but you can get used to anything no matter how unpleasant if you have to. It is still unpleasant. Classic case of tail wagging the dog, easier for everyone but the end user.

Note to my fellow Americans:

While we're all distracted by the Trump Show, our government is in the process of allowing the ISP monopolies to sell even more of our personal information.

Both my Senators helped vote this through to the House because of freaking course they did. I called my House rep-- who hasn't made clear his position on the matter-- yesterday to urge against allowing this, but we'll see :/

And it passed with all but a few representatives (who abstained ) voting along party lines.

Just saw the results :/ My rep was one of the fifteen Republicans who broke ranks to vote nay, so at least I'm not entirely disappointed in my state.

I wrote a couple of blog thingies recently. Both are comics related. I just realized I hadn't shamelessly self-promoted them on an OTT here.

Hey guys, no political or media talk this time from me (Other than me expressing my excitement for the new Gorillaz album coming next month), but I got a question for you all.

I haven't been posting much mostly because... I really stopped following most comics outside of Hulk. Just can't keep up with everything and there's rarely a book that I wanted to post about here usually. I've been focusing mostly on manga these days for fun and for my writing job, so I'm curious. Would you guys want to see more posts on manga? Highlight a couple of winners that I think are nifty or such?

I would absolutely want to see more posts on manga.

I wanted to make some myself, but those manga don't have e-book versions, and the spine of my volumes is so rigid that I would have had to destroy the books to make scans :(

Do you want to talk hate or just talk? I do not hate MEA, but I am rather disappointed with all wasted possibilities and I'm not invested in the story so far (I've visited two plot-related planets and I'm still hoping for something original and fresh to impress me).

Oh! Oh! I am!

Enjoying it, actually.

... aside from screwing up one side quest very badly so it ended in a horrible bloodbath for all concerned...

But apart from that, enjoying it tremendously.

Got the first shipment of the last cycle of the Transformers Figure Subscription Service after much, much delay. Funny enough, they're all the figures I was specifically interested in from the batch. Since I subscribed with the installment plan, I'm considering cancelling now and not bothering with the rest. My curiosity is kinda really pressing me to hold out for the bonus mystery figure, though... These aren't the first Transformers I've owned, but they are the first I've actually transformed, so I've become even fonder of them through the novelty.

Also got the Batbunny plush I won from a drawing on Tumblr~ He's even more adorable in person, as well as soft, and I keep cuddling him :,D He's this month's Featured Bunny on the artist's Patreon page and there's still time to pledge and get him. The artist's Etsy can be found here for those interested in other characters.

I thought that the Power Rangers movie was a lot of fun, personally. There are certainly a number of things I'd do differently, but they remembered to be fun, had one of the more diverse casts of any blockbuster (only one white main cast member, a nueroatypical, a queer woman who was not sexualized), and some great nostalgia.

(Krispy Kreme) It was great, right up until they finally transformed into Power Rangers, which says a lot about the strength of the cast, and the writing. I could have watched 2 hours of (Krispy Kreme) them bonding.

So I beat the main campaign in Zelda and got a bit better at finding the shrines though I might turn off the beeper. I'm actually really curious to see what kind of DLC follow up they make. I enjoyed the game and it's certainly given me an explorer and completionist bug.

I have now imagined Kamala Khan making her MCU debut as an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Daisy Johnson cosplayer.
