"I fault creators who do this, on all levels — comics and TV and the whole thing — if you want to write adults: fine. Go write adults. If you want to write adult Peter Parker, it’s great. There’s this whole other level to him, he doesn’t always need to be in high school. There’s loads of things he can contribute as a college student, as an adult. It’s all super interesting. But they keep him in high school, and they just don’t write him like a high schooler and that’s frustrating. And teenagers, they’re so weird. They’re so bizarre. And why are you missing this wonderful opportunity to make him [someone] who’s sometimes overly self-conscious, sometimes has no, uh, what’s it called? No… filter! And just this weird ricocheting of emotions always at full blast all the time." - Hannah Blumenreich

This is from an eight-page short story in the recent oversized Amazing Spider-Man #25. Writing and pencils both by Hannah Blumenreich.

Edit: Oops, we're already at the page limit for this issue. I'll re-post when the next issue's out.

I'd pay good money for an entire series based on this.

This story bothers me as a animal lover? Did Aunt May condemned that dog to animal control where he will go to a overcrowded shelter and most likely euthanized? Peter didn't object and Peter and May were ignorant about high kill shelters, I would hope they would take the time and energy to find a Rescue.

You did read the part where pets aren't allowed in the building, yeah?

Plus you are jumping to the worst possible conclusion. It's just as likely that the dog was adopted by another family.

yeah I read it, she mention animal control and doesnt animal control usually take them there, I dont think they work with rescue depends. that must be one strict neighborhood if a house is not allowed a 1 pet, I thought the house is ben and may but I guess its rented in this continunity since its obviously its not the main 616 where it was burned down and got repaired by Harry.

This is a younger Peter though, so this would be before the housed burned down anyway.

Besides, the story before this one had Clash rescue lab animals and taking them to a "No-Kill Animal Rescue".

The dog was taken to a nice, no kill shelter, where the it was adopted by a wonderful family.

There you go.

To be perfectly honest, I was a little disappointed by this one. It's not entirely the fault of the actual comic: I paid 10 full dollars for the issue solely to read this one backup, and I've spent the past couple of years becoming an absolutely insufferable snob, so it had a lot to live up to. Still, I ended up finding it underwhelming.

Like, it's good, Blumenreich has a great handle on the characters and a very valid point in the quote, but somehow I was just hoping for more, you know? I was hoping for some sort of big show stopping mission statement, a synthesis of Blumenreich's deft characterization with more traditional superhero action, a story which would metaphorically flip the table and boldly announce that this is how you do a Spider-Man story! Instead it was more of the same that we've seen from this creator, and I didn't find it to have much substance to it.

Deluxe sized issue plus Canadian exchange rate, so something around that. It.... wasn't one of my wiser purchases.

Is it me, or does Spider-Man look taller than Peter Parker?
