I think it's in this issue, but there's a panel that handwaves that. It's something along the lines of, "Yeah, we shouldn't be able to do this, but I guess we can! Whee!"

Likewise, those speeds by people would leave gigantic shockwaves of destruction.. .but in most stories you don't *want* that, so it doesn't.

also, just because you can run that fast, doesn't have to mean you can run for that long, especially without training. I mean, an experienced marathon runner wouldn't be able to make a run that long in one go.

A) Given their time perception is as accelerated as the rest of them, wouldn't running across the US feel like real time and thus be incredibly boring?

B) How long did they have to sit on the racecars for the phone to function? It's not they could give it a pill to accelerate to their time frame.

C) How is gravity affecting them? Sometimes they're walking/running normally, which requires 9.8 m/s^2 is being translated to their new time frame. On the other hand, that guy jumped super far, so wouldn't they be bouncing around the whole time involuntarily? And when the guy jumped, he fell much faster than anything outside of their time frame, so how the fuck is the woman walking on walls?

But most importantly:

D) If your readers are too busy trying to figure out your damn rules to focus on the story, isn't that a sign of bad writing?

I actually think D is more a side affect of art style/setting. The more realistic the art is the closer to reality the setting portrays itself to be the more I think about what the rules are.

Given that the cameras and smart phones they are holding apparently work at the same speed they do and some of the comments from the group about focusing on the desired effect being important then I would imagine them all to be low level reality warpers.

Which begs the question what else could they do if they "focused" and who the hell is making those pills and then testing them in the wild?
