'Wanted to write this page since I was 9. Hope it inspires a picked-on kid, as the comics of my nerdy youth inspired me. "I'm still here."' -- Tom King

Nicely badass moment (Though the fact he can list all his kids as having died at some point is a depressing realisation about DC editorial decisions).

His mother showing up in his psyche to be told that he's outgrown his need for her manages to be a combination of touching, repetitive (The whole "I'm a grown up now" is on a par with "I don't need anyone/ Wait, yes I do" as a Batman character arc trope) and weird (Why his mother and not his father in this instance?)

Not too impressed with the all of the Tom King stuff I read on here, but I always find it refreshing when Martha Wayne's role is expanded to more than a string of pearls falling on blood-soaked concrete. Seems that most of the attention is almost always on Thomas Wayne.

I also don't understand her outfit here. Why would she wear long, white opera gloves to a movie? Or if this is just supposed to be her lounging around the manor, the question still stands. I guest opera gloves are just shorthand for being a fancy rich lady. It looks more like a costume than an outfit that a real, human woman would wear.

I like the allusions to Batman stories in various media, particularly Martha talking with Bruce when he's on the brink of death ("Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?").

Stupid Bat-history question: When were the names of Thomas and Martha Wayne established? And when was it revealed Thomas was a doctor?

I'm sure there are stories where someone says "Bruce Wayne isn't the billionare wastrel he appears to be, because I knew Thomas and Martha." In retrospect, "I knew Thomas and Martha" is as good a reason to realize Bruce is Batman as any other.
