I am not saying this looks like a romance but...

I recently read Gerry Conway's original "The Amazing Spider-Man" run (the one that killed off Gwen Stacy and had the original Clone Story-Arc) and... am I the only one that sees this?

I mean, I could make a whole analysis of that last one.

Scans from "The Amazing-SPiderman" #134, #144 and #147

Why did Anna think Mary Jane and Peter would be "good for each other," just like May did? I mean, Anna knew that MJ wasn't as "happy-go-lucky" as she appeared.

I'm not an expert in Spider-History, but I'd *like* to think Anna Watson is one of the few people Mary Jane can be totally honest with (minus the bit about Peter's red-and-blue tights). So, Anna knew Mary Jane often put on a party-girl act so people wouldn't know how miserable her home life was. (You'd think Peter was the only one whose parents *didn't* go through a nasty divorce.) Thus, Anna says to May "I think Peter and MJ should meet. Maybe they'll like each other and get married after some years of being just friends."

Insert OMD snark here.

Maybe Anna wanted to set them up because she knew MJ was not so happy-go-lucky? It's not like Peter's life was untouched by tragedy, with his parents gone and presumed dead, his uncle/surrogate father killed, and his girlfriend also killed. It would take an unusually empathic person to be able to date Peter. Maybe someone like MJ, whose mom had also died, and who helped care for her mom during her decline. All of which Anna knew.

"Future child"

...not with the last 20 years of editorial. Way to twist the knife, Marvel.

*zooms in*

Oh, that makes more sense.

I need to either stop visiting SD on my phone or get new glasses. Probably both.

Aunt May's features are so weird here. She almost looks diabolical, crazed, or like the Cryptkeeper.

I remember an April Fool's Joke about Aunt May appearing in one of the Marvel videogames.

And hey, its got nothing on the infamous action figure

Is Anna still alive? I completely forgot about her.
