We tried this a couple of months back, and though I didn't think it proved popular enough to be a very regular feature, this being the weekend of D23 (The major Disney Expo) there are a few movie and TV related bits of comic book news that might be of interest.



First up, the opening titles for the Big Hero 6 cartoon have been released

Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet

We've had our first glimpse of what the Infinity Gauntlet will look like in the movie



Some new characters for the bad guys were revealed too. In case people want to avoid spoilers, I'll link, but not post to the images. Here they are, if you want to see them

The Gifted

Something which seems to have slipped into the schedules almost unnoticed with the kerfuffle over "Inhumans", is the new Fox series, "The Gifted", which features several X-Men chartacters and is set in the X-Men universe.

Slightly odd choice of established characters perhaps (Polaris, Thunderbird and Blink?) and new ones Eclipse, and the name Strucker is asking for trouble (A little too close to Von Strucker, unless it's going to turn out that the kids have an Auntie and Uncle who go by the name Fenris or something) but I like the idea of Sentinel Services (Which does sound like the way such a program would be intorduced rather than "Let's cut straight to the forty-foot tall murder-bots".

And so we're not totally based on US products, the final trailer from Luc Besson's "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" based on the French bande dessineé series "Valerian and Laureline" by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières.

Sign me up for a gauntlet when those come available in stores. If they don't then Disney clearly doesn't recognize an instant sell, which I find doubtful.

Also, you know, the character on the background there kinda spoils it, if you want to keep the villains unspoilered.

Big Hero 6 cartoon news is great! Not exactly the style I like but I hope the story will be interesting.

The Infinity Gauntlet looks... not very menacing but it's just a prop piece with no CGI so I guess it will do. There was some concept-art where it looked real real good so I hope they'd made it look less silly in the actual movie %)
Also, is that empowered Thane instead of Supergiant in this version of the Black Order?

I'm mildly interested in The Gifted, Lorna seems badass, but the story... well, it will be either very boring and predictable, or semi-boring and predictable, I'm afraid. Hope they prove me wrong!

I was going to say the gemstones look plastic, but then I realized I know absolutely nothing about gemstones and how to tell plastic ones from glass or real ones, so I've no right to complain.

Speaking of superhero cartoons, does anybody know if the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon is any good?

Re: Creators is now in its second half, and introducing some new characters--one would substantially up the content rating if they let her do the climatic scenes from her home fiction.

Given all the controversy over Dr. Strange and Iron Fist I'm surprised there's been very little concerning how BH6 took an all Japanese superhero team and reduced it to 1/3 of the team. Like they took an Ainu person and made him white...

I’m excited to see Mézières on the big screen! I hope I can see it in 3D too. I’m too young to have seen The Fifth Element in theatres so I’m really looking forward to this, despite the fact that the two humans are very tedious to me.

I do hope they can add some personality to the other four members of Big Hero 6. I was very disappointed that they were basically cardboard cutouts in the movie. If they could maybe retcon Tadashi's death such that it becomes more of a heroic attempt to rescue someone from a burning building and less of a suicidal jumping into a fire, that would be great, too.
