"I've done a lot of tie-ins to other folks' events. To me, when they succeed or when it's easy to write tie-ins are when the folks who are writing the event give you sandboxes to play in, where you can have a little more room and you can have a little more use. Instead of kind of peripherally connecting, you give them environments and stages that you can build stories out of. So, in a behind-the-scenes sense, I looked at this event and said 'If I were a tie-in writer, what would be useful to me here?' Setting up these arenas in the Darkforce and behind the planetary defense shield, and a few others that'll come into play as we go..."- Nick Spencer

What happened to the hammer separation rule? I'm assuming Waid hand waved it away somehow, as the adventures of cancer patient Jane in an alien world would not have been as compelling.

She starts this story desperate to find her hammer, and discovers that wherever she's been banished to, the effect doesn't seem to apply.

I have to say, I quite liked this story. Her mantra at trying out alien food is magnificent.

Thor hadn't been under the influence of that rule it in a long time, but I'm not sure what that means for another person who becomes Thor through the power of the hammer.

Actually, the last time I can recall a time limit-based reversion to human form was when Beta Ray Bill first showed up.

Jane is pretty much under that rule. She got unmasked thanks to time running out both in ANAD Avengers and her own book. But it can be overwritten by circumstances like the power of a cosmic cube (like Kobik in Avengers: Standoff), or apparently whatever this place is.

Well, I can see there being a difference between 'normal mortal using the power of Thor channeled through the hammer' and 'the actual Thor who the power originates from'. Jane has no powers without the hammer, while Thor without the hammer is still a god who is just short a weapon and some neat tricks he can do with it.

You know what would be funny?

If Hydra had just shrunk Thor to a Microverse on/in the Hammer, so she's still technically in contact with it.

It would also explain why Hydra Steve was able to lift Mjolnir. It's the Red Hulk loophole, you can lift the hammer if you're also lifting the wielder.

Someone hits the hammer with Pym Particles during the final battle, Jane reappears out of nowhere.

According to an internet friend, who reads this series, "someone" just swiped a container of Pym particles from the Black Ant in this week's issue. I'm getting my hopes up over nothing, aren't I? ^^;

The final panel of the first page does look an awful lot like a shrinking effect, with the hammer remaining in the foreground.

I know I'm about a week late to this party... but that's brilliant.

She blasted the farmer with it, and beamed him 'home'.

I'm guessing 'home' was his family. Maybe in the land of the dead?

Yeah, I'm not sure if it sent him (bodily) to their afterlife dimension, or if it just killed him and disintegrated his body, and his soul went to that afterlife dimension.

I mean, Yod, an invading tyrant, forced the people he enslaved to build it for him. Did it actually do what Yod demanded, or what his subjects would have wanted?
