Yes, an obvious reference to the apparent failure of the comic (anyone with original copies, do the letters pages reference people getting tired of the series?)

A bit harsh in my opinion, but ultimately the end of the series was a necessity, for afterwards Alison would join the X-Men.

I've heard of authors/inkers/pencil/dialogue editor slipping scornful messages and in-jokes into their works, but has Marvel done anything similar to this example?
