Another really interesting approach to the fallen Bruce. I do like that once again it is an act of desperation that has horrific repercussions.

By the way, does that spear part feel like a weird slam at BvS? Especially since it ignores what happened before it.

It feels like a slam against "Batman beats Superman" in general.

Yep. I thought the same thing.

Yeah and it's really weird considering the damn event this story relates to.

It also doesn't help that the writer basically has Batman just walk up there with a Kryptonite spear even if it was a part of a larger plan.

Yeah, I mean I once had this idea for a story where Batman has to fight Superboy Prime, and we find out that Batman sank a ton of money into turning Gotham into a Kryptonian Deathtrap, with streetlights that can be switched into being red sunlight emitters, secret caches of kryptonite based weaponry all over, Plus Bruce keeping a secret cache of super tech and magical talismans for just such an emergency.

It was basically this idea I had for a fanfiction series which was set in a universe where the Marvel and DC universe were combined, The story in question would have Gwenpool coming to Gotham to enlist Batman's help because Superboy Prime is after her, because they are both from the same world that see's other worlds as comics, and Superboy Prime doesn't want her there because she's not a "true fan."

This is my wallet.

This is all the money in my wallet.

Please take it, in exchange for said fanfic.

If there has ever been a straight up Batman beats/has a plan to beat Pure Evil Spuerman comic I have never seen it. Even here, with the spear its implied that Batman still thought Clark would snap out of it. I mean its implied Superman killed damn near everyone on the planet and Batman still held out hope of his Superman coming back to him.

Regardless of how popular culture has interpreted it, in the comics Batman's plans against Superman always assume that at heart Superman is basically a good guy.

In cynical takes, like Dark Knight Returns, Batman's plans take advantage of Superman's inherent niceness. In optimistic takes, like Hush, Batman's plans are usually all about stalling Superman while helping Clark break free of whatever mindcontrol BS.

No, not really. For example Snyder wrote a really good story about the different ways Batman would fight Superman. Most of the other writers just choose to take the lazy way out.

Who? Where? I mean there are a lot of comics and I haven taken breaks from time to time so maybe I have just been fortunate never to have heard of those issues.

An extremely evil Superman would just push an asteroid into Earth or something, which is kind of hard for Batman to deal with without dipping way far into the Sci-Fi Closet. Not that it wouldn't make for a good story.

Has there ever been a story where one of the heavy hitters like Supes or Flash or Green Lantern (or Ultraman, Sinestro, etc.) was going to just one-shot humanity, and Batman had (say) twenty minutes' warning to try to stop them?
