Please include the title of the comic and issue number, so we can keep a track of what has been posted from what issue. Thanks.

As for this, I'm slightly confused, is this another Tommy Elliott in the making, or some weird update of Brave and the Bold 83, where Bruce adopts another kid because of some sort of quid pro quo with another family his parents had had (and who somehow had not live up to their end of the bargain when the Waynes had died years before.)

More a Thomas Elliot kind of thing, but

Turns out the kid orchestrated everything with the help of his butler because he wanted to be like Bruce Wayne, ends up becoming, like, an inverse Bruce Wayne? It's a weird issue.

Isn't that exactly the Thomas Elliot thing, minus the butler?

I'm not exactly a fan of Hush or anything, but why create a new character that is precisely the same as the old character with the sole addition of a minor accomplice, which could have been added in anyway since Rebirth is a soft reboot? I'm scratching my head here.

Because this was a sorta-last-minute fill-in issue to give Joƫlle Jones more time on her next issue.

Yeah, that's Tommy Elliott's backstory.

Also reminds me of a story way way back when when Bruce investigates a case where the parents of a little boy were murdered, and eventually has to admit (and after all the others in the batfamily have realised it, but kept quiet because it's Bruce and this sort of case is anathema to him) that the kid killed his own parents, and only did it because he was bored. Tragic little story IIRC.

IIRC, that story had the kid saying to Batman regarding his motive, "They bugged me. What's it to you?"

What I got from the issue, obvious Hush similarities aside, is that they were trying to put a different spin on "guy that gets inspired by Batman turns to the dark side" by making it "kid gets inspired by Bruce Wayne for all the wrong reasons...and then turns to the dark side." The kid sees Bruce as symbol of strength, someone that took the pain in his life and used it to help the people of the city, and the kid wanted to emulate Bruce so bad that he flipped his shit and murdered his own parents.

I get what King was trying to do; it's not really about the kid. It opens with Bruce smiling at Selina and being absolutey terrified of himself as he looks at her by the end. This is a man that is scared of marriage. That he isn't good enough for the woman he loves, that every moment of his life tells him that he is poison to himself and everyone that gets close to him, because he lives in a world full of poison that he himself may have created, and no matter how hard he tries to make it better it still hangs over him. And he's scared.

I get that. I can relate to that. I may also be reading too much into it.
