So, did this finally get Stark, or do we see him in the next issue wearing a hoodie?

It's the penultimate issue, so Starr's dead.

1. Heh... Starr doesn't even get to die with dignity. Not only is he completely raving mad by this point ("You took my fucking cock!!" he says to someone who had nothing to do with that incident), but he comically is able to speak for a couple of seconds after Tulip blows off the top of his head.

2. Not shown here: Tulip, before she gets to Starr, coming across the bodies of Featherstone and Hoover (Starr having shot them both when, having finally realized what a monster he is, they try in succession to kill him). Seeing Featherstone died with her eyes open, Tulip compassionately closes them and heads on. It's one of those moments I like to point out to those who think Ennis isn't capable of anything but gorn.

3. In the final confrontation between Jesse and Cassidy, the back-and-forth "Forgive me!" "No!" goes on just long enough that when Jesse finally does offer his hand, I feel like that's not so much because of what Cassidy said, but because the plot dictated it was time to forgive him. "It's not so easy to stand by yer friends" isn't inherently any more persuasive, to me, than anything else he's already said. (Though to be fair, it isn't any less persuasive either.)

Though there again the line "Can you reach out a hand to a friend?" is a callback to the German fella saying that in 'Salvation', indicating that Jesse might be a little guilt-ridden.

That's a very good point. I myself am uncomfortable with the idea of extending forgiveness to a Nazi war criminal, as strictly speaking the only ones in a position to forgive would be his victims. Jesse, however, may have come to feel otherwise, and this may well have influenced his eventual decision to forgive Cassidy.

As far as I can tell, Ennis has kept notably schtum about the Neo-Nazi feeling that's recently arisen. Other than aping some of them in "Jimmy's Bastards", of course...

I wouldn't go that far. Jimmy's Bastards is heavy-handed and unfunny in its mockery of social justice rhetoric, but it doesn't even come close to advocating for white supremacy.

Starr fired five shots, and the standard revolver has six. How come he's out?

You often leave the chamber directly under the hammer empty to reduce the chance of accidental discharge. Not heard about that happening, but it is a thing with some people.

Primarily only on the old single actions without a hammer block safety. It's possible but unlikely he was being extra safe. He could have fired another shot off panel, as was mentioned. Some big bore revolvers only hold 5 rounds. Personally, since it's Starr we're talking about, I can imagine him having the misfortune of loading a rare, but not unheard of, dud round in there on this particular day.

I rather liked the idea that he'd run out of bullets because he shot Featherstone and Hoover, so it was his own act of betrayal that contributed to his death.

Is the reason Cassidy punched Jesse because of the "fight like hell" command from the previous issue?
