or Norman Osborn

Or Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange had to battle the ancient god of suffering to get a magical elixir to save Wong, and only had a drop to use on him after the vial was shattered. It's not like he has the cure at hand whenever he wants.

Norman Osborn is, well, Norman Osborn. So T'Challa has more in common with the sociopath who throws girls off bridges after impregnating them here.

Strange is there, treating Jane. He might not be in his top from though as he literally just crawled out of a dumpster.

I never would have said this when she first took over, but when Jane's done as Thor, I'm done with this book.

Yeah, I've enjoyed most of it (mostly the gorgeous art) but it feels this has draaaaaagged on forever. I really don't want them to kill Jane off, or for her to come back as a goddess or whatever, either.

I thought Odin had handily deus ex machina-ed Mangog several times in the past? I mean Thor's an underdog in that fight, but Odin himself didn't seem to have much trouble on previous occasions.

Yes. In Mangog's first appearance, he was able to handily defeat Asgard's best and brightest, including Thor. Then Odin woke up from his Odinsleep and three panels later the threat was gone.

I love Thor just talking to Mjolnir like it's an overly affectionate dog. "Shoo! Get away!"

This story is so artificially long, and boring. And I'm not able to feel any sympathy towards Jane because it's ridiculous - their world has cloning, for f's sake, and genetic editing that looks almost like art, and magic, and nano-whatever, and Jane is not a nobody living in African wilds, she's a friend to a bunch of superheroes!
I can't even.

If she was a nobody living in African wilds, she'd have T'Challa.

Agreed. I gave up when they had the story with the Shi'ar gods, right then I knew there was going to be even more gratuitous padding. Jane's been dying for at least a year now in comic time and it's amazing nobody's found a way to save her.

The Shi'ar part was at least funny (well, if you like Quentin Quire, that is), the last time I remember anything to be funny in this comics.

You can't feel sympathy for her, because creators are not idiots? They can't cure cancer, because that would be stupid and disrespectful and mean nobody should ever get cancer in Marvel U.

Unless we are gonna criticize DC writers for not curing Barbara Gordon of being paraplegic (which they know did and it's stupid), I don't see it.

"And", since curing Barbara Gordon of her handicap is idiotic, why is curing Jane better?

Basically: We don't have Reed Richards cure AIDS, because that would be shitty, disrespectful and take things too out of reality. Same here.

Not curing anyone, especially the superheroes, from such diseases in the scientifically and magically advanced universes is stupid (I don't read DC comics and misinterpreted your comment about Barbara).
On/offing Jane's cancer is shitty and disrespectful. Not curing her is idiotic (and also disrespectful - to the logic of that universe).

So Odin and Åsgård is gone in the movies, so it has to go here too. I'm going to predict Odin sacrifices himself to get rid of the Mangog.

Couldn't they just have stayed in Broxon, this was a whole lot of nose for a short excusion

You're predicting the most obvious and overplayed.

Asgard and the realms (except Midgard) is destroyed or almost destroyed in every 3-5 years (In Matt Fraction's World Eaters arc, in Oeming's Ragnarök, in the Siege event etc.). The same goes for Odin's death (latest was in Fear Itself) especially in heroic sacrifice.

They will just rebuild again. And Sif can be annoyed with the need to rebuild AGAIN.

I'm predicting: Jane heroically sacrifices herself to stop the Mangog (so won't die of cancer) and she returns as a goddess because death in Thor is especially cheap.

You're right... Odin just heroically went to self-exile to seal away the current big evil (Cul) then. Given this is also generally what he does when he dies I got mixed up a bit. :D

Odin took Cul's body with him into his exile because he (correctly) assumed that he'll get better too sooner or later. Then both of them got freed by Loki in the Original Sin: The Tenth Realm mini.

Apparently it's an actual known rule to the characters that no god ever stays dead in Marvel. Which explains all the sealing away attempts (which are also doomed to fail), but doesn't why they still think death is a big thing somehow.

I don't know if I'm alone here, but I honestly believe Jason Aaron's whole run will be a run to remember when it's all said and done. I've fallen way behind (low income so can only get what books are at the library), but I loved what I read so far, including the Jane stuff.

Once I can afford it, I'd love to buy the inevitable "Thor by Jason Aaron" complete collections.
