And this time it's thanks to one of their artists...

The current artist on Cable, Jon Malin, has a  definition of SJW's is... challenging, as outlined from an actual tweet.

He was involved in a discussion about the impact of "Social Justice Warriors" on the comics industry., when it was pointed out that the X-Men could be viewed as ACTUAL Social Justice Warriors, since they combat racism and discrimination on behalf of opressed minorities!

I have no words that convey the sheer level of "WTF?" that this creates.

Yes, in terms of oppressed minorities, the X-Men perhaps do work as an analogy for the Jews in Hitler's Germany, as they are in the middle of a societal structure seeking to "other" them and target them for elimination, but I don't think I can even parse the rest of the sentence. Nazi's were Social Justice Warriors? I mean... really?

It doubles down a little, but you can see that at the linked article because I don't think I can bring myself to post that.

I keep drinking to forget, but the world keeps on reminding me why I started to drink.

This... Just. Ugh.

Yeah. Just, ugh.

Glad this guy is the artist and not the writer, given his clear deep understanding of the franchise.

The sound you hear is the syllogism being twisted to its breaking point and beyond. It would make just as much sense to say "Soaps aren't combs but combs are soaps and Dial™ is not a soap."

For the record, this guy is a freelancer who just ended his latest work (Cable, for those who care) and during his latest EVS interview listed nothing Marvel related as an upcoming project. Expect Marvel to distance themselves as far as possible from this guy faster than you can say "Ardian Syaf".

five minuets later: Marvel writer says babies deserve AIDS and gay people are Nazis sent by the devil. also white people are misunderstood.

PR GUY: OK I QUIT. DC doesn't have this many issues.....

Well this guy just invoked Godwin which Nick Spencer does before breakfast. Syaf inserted actual hate speech in a comic.

From: [personal profile] strejdaking
Sure, but Spencer, love him or hate him, has done enough of value for Marvel to be considered more of an asset than liability. This guy wrote like 15 issues for them, 11 of which are from a Thunderbolts series that was butt of the joke due his shitty art (and not Squirrel Girl some love/hate kind, the "everybody at best tolerates it" kind). Also, dude just went on saying how much current Marvel creators suck and agree or disagree, that's not something that ensures
you being around to change that. Most damningly of all, CBR just ran article about him and CBR... let's just say, ain't the kind of site to do that if they think he's gonna stay.

Jon Malin pencilled eleven issues of Thunderbolts. Jim Zub wrote it, except for the story in the 20th anniversary edition by Busiek and Bagley.

Wait, shit, I DID write he "wrote" 15 issues. I meant he "made", I mean, I woudln't be saying it was the ART that was the problem otherwise. My bad, sorry.

The X-men being for social justice is... not subtle.

I’m talking about this one, specifically. Is this what we’re both thinking of? If so, I thought that was meant to invoke her look in X-Men: Days of Future Past/The Gifted.

Look, I'm kinda in between on the whole larger discourse... Like, I don't think "SJWs are ruining everything" but I think you gotta be willfully ignorant to deny some people are taking issues or perceived issues beyond any sort of reason-but this does continues to prove to me "social justice warriors" and "political correctness" are little more than just buzzwords that mean whatever person dislikes.

I'm not saying I agree with him, but I have encountered a vocal section of SJWs who believe that unless you support their causes in the way they choose, you are as bad as those they speak out against.
as an example, look at the backlash against Matt Damon, when he said that child molestation and sexual harassment are both bad, but not only are they not on the same level, they shouldn't be treated as if they are.
