While Rorschy definitely belongs in an asylum, I hope Batman at least takes the threat Manhattan poses seriously.

Wait -- if this is Bernard, didn't we actually see him get vaporized?

I'd say it isn't, given that he was a kid, and that at the moment of explosion the other Bernard was hugging him and trying to save him.

More likely this is some...guy...?

I don't think the "alien" actually exploded. It just created a psychic shockwave that killed people or drove them insane.

Well, we also saw Blake's body. And yet here he is. Jon apparently has in-universe retcon powers, so...

Sigh... You know, I was expecting this to be the one where they jump the shark and reveal it was Grant Morrison's fault or something like that. But this... this is just lame. Like by now, Watchmen shifted what was going on and raised the stakes to have Dr. Manhattan leave the Earth. (Also, given Batman's costume, who here thinks this takes place in the pre-New 52 DCU?)

I think it might be pre-Rebirth instead of pre-New 52 because...

...old Johnny Thunder appears alive, which is something that Rebirth established (he died and sort-of merged with Thunderbolt in the pre-New 52 timeline). So, between this, Batman's costume, the fact that Lex Luthor seems to be on the evil side of things, and that what's happening around the world (the Supermen Theory and all that) hasn't even been mentioned in passing in any other DC title, makes me think that this is some kind of alternate New 52 that Manhattan maybe changed/altered at some point to then give way to Rebirth and/or the New 52 that we readers know of.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong and this comic is going down a different line, or maybe it's just filled with continuity errors. *Shrugs*

According to this polygon article it takes place a year after the first issue was published. That way "the rest of the universe will have caught up to it — and the repercussions of the event will become known."

Oh, ok, I didn't know that.

Now I'm wondering what it means that the JSA are presumably back in existence. Initially in Rebirth, it's said that JSA is lost and forgotten from history. I interpreted that as meaning that both their identities as superheroes and as private civilians vanished from reality, especially since Johnny seemed so distraught and desperate to "bring" them back (along with Rebirth Dinah Lance having grown up as an orphan and nobody remembering who Jay Garrick was).

This issue of Doomsday Clock seems to show that John Law, Libby Lawrence and Ted Grant existed and are presumably remembered (at least as their civilian identities). The previous issue vaguely referenced Alan Scott and Rex Tyler.

Does this all mean that at some point in the next year the JSA's status quo will change to a limited extent? Or that the civilian identities of the JSA were always maintained and nobody remembered their superhero identities (like what happened with Wally West after Spectre Hal Jordan messed with people's memories of him as the Flash) except for Johnny Thunder (and apparently Johnny Sorrow, and Wally for a short while)?

I think this is setting for Joker's involvement. Of course, Barry getting shot by lightning only to get fried and needing to try it AGAIN in Flashpoint didn't amount to much besides padding.

okay, I know DC is a comic book reality and Watchmen is a real world reality bt even in DC it takes more than locking a guy in a cell to mke him an inmate in an asylum

If Batman drops off some dude in a crazy gitup and tells you to lock him up are you really going to ask for the proper paper work?

Hell even if you did, this guy doesn't have any paper work nor paper trail.

It bugs me that Arkham is so nasty. This is 2018 - it doesn't need to look like a dungeon from the dark ages. Talk about inhumane conditions.

Looking for a humane Arkham is like looking for a sane Starfleet Admiral. It might potentially exist, but you'll be looking for a looooooong time.

Batman is an idiot here. Full Stop.

Putting aside the legal troubles of having a vigilante putting someone completely unknown in a nearly useless insane asylum without any form of documentation, there is still one major problem with Batman pulling this.

Reggie Rorschach knows who he is under the cowl, and I sincerely doubt that he's the kind of person to keep quiet about things like this.
