- Tony, Peter, Strange, Wong and the Guardians,
- Thor and Loki,
- Wanda and the Vision,
- Cap, Bucky, Natasha, Sam, Bruce, Rhodey, T'Challa, Shuri, Okoye, and the Jabari.
My strong feeling is that:
a) Thor, Bruce and Loki run into Thanos' people (due to the Ragnarok stinger)
b) something bad happens to either Loki, Thor or both of them
c) Thor runs into the Guardians of the Galaxy
d) Bruce and the GotG end up on Earth
e) the GotG meet up with Tony and his crew while Thanos starts invading (likely Strange twigs what's going on, thanks to his monitoring of interdimensional threats)
f) Cap (still a fugitive from Civil War) assembles his crew and goes to Wakanda for help
g) Tony meets up with them in the Hulkbuster for the big climactic battle.
I don't know what happens to Thor and Loki in this timeline, or Wanda and Vision, but it seems like the general direction of the movie.
total supposition
Thor and Loki are on the ship; Thanos crashes into it and kills everyone; the Black Order starts threatening Loki and Thanos is torturing Thor to get him to hand over the Tesseract; Loki does, and Thanos turns it into the gem and puts it on the gauntlet. Although I think he's already got the Orb from Nova Prime on there, I don't remember. Of course they could be showing it all out of sequence. If that's right, if Loki dies it might be there. Then Thor escapes or is tossed into space and runs into the Milano.
Bruce crashes by himself through the NYC window of Strange's sanctum, doesn't he? Thor isn't there. And then Tony shows up -- I think Bruce might be the one to tell them about Thanos, if he witnessed what happened on the Asgardian ship. And then he, Wong, Strange and Bruce are all witnessing something big in NYC, probably at about the same time Peter is on the bus. It looks like maybe the GotG get separated or split up -- there's a bit with Rocket and Groot and Thor, maybe where Thor's trying to get another hammer, and then the comic scene with Drax, Quill, and Tony. -- Thor has to go off with the Guardians to the Collector's den sometime, that seems to be when Thanos gets the first gem on his gauntlet (the Orb on Nova Prime). So maybe that happens before they get to Earth, when they witness Thanos getting the Aether cube.
I thiiiink what's going on with Wanda and Vision is that they're on the lam in Europe, the Black Order comes after them, and Sam and Nat and Steve show up to fight them. They try to get the mind stone, but Vision's still walking when everyone shows up in Wakanda, and Shuri's looking at a holographic scan of his head, so I don't think they get it. It sounds like maybe after the attack on Vision (mind stone) and New York (time stone?) Team Cap plus Rhodey and Bruce go to Wakanda (soul stone supposedly), while there's some kind of cosmic fight involving Thor, Peter, Tony, maybe Quill and the Guardians....and maybe Strange, since we see Ebon Maw torturing him and in the comics apparently he tricks Strange into revealing where the time stone is. Or he might just take it. If Thanos has the time stone that might lead to the shenanigans where people have seen pictures of Tony in a SHIELD uniform? and Steve in his Avengers outfit, unless those are totally something else of course!
I think the "terrible terrible thing at the beginning" Feige has been teasing has to be Thanos killing all the Asgardians on the ship, and maybe Loki as well. Which would make the ending of Ragnarok a total bummer. :-/
