Oh yay, Land is back on Uncanny. He did, however, draw a pretty kick-ass Magneto in Ultimate Fantastic Four several years ago but he seemed to actually try back then unlike today.

Between these solicits and the ones for AXM, seems pretty clear that Emma is still with the group.

Aren't we done with SB-Prime yet?

One day a new EIC will arrive at Marvel and Greg Land will be fired.

I keep telling myself that. But I just can't believe it anymore.

In Go! part 2, Kate Kane is outed and forced to leave West Point.

I approve!

and has a fateful encounter with The Dark Knight that will forever change her life!

I disapprove!

I'm glad Rucka's showing the negative effects DADT can have with Batwoman, but I'm worried her origin will involve a Brucespiration like he did with Helena.

I'm actually loving it. I nearly bought a comic called "Dark Wolverine" until I saw it had a Land cover, instantly curing me of any desire I had to pay for it.

I don't think it's a big stretch for "Batwoman" to have some inspiration from Batman.

It's like those frogs with the bright neon colors that say "DO NOT EAT ME, I WILL FUCK YOUR INSIDES UP GOOD."

I'm just irritated the cousin thing seems to be officially out of the running. I mean, really, how much clean and perfect sense would that have made? And it solves the Brucpiration quite neatly if you're going to insist that connection be there.

I think his Nightwing run showed that when he wasn't tracing porn, Land was a decent artist. First time I saw his work I was impressed, and then I started to notice that his Black Canary looked just like his Sue Storm who looked just like his Emma Frost. They were all the same exact woman with different hair styles.

I will say, though, when has to do characters he can't find on the web or in magazines he does a half-way decent job (but that's not often).

When someone says "ahaha, yeah, I nearly ate that until I saw the pound of rat poison in their throat", you do not shove the rat poison down their throat.

Totally unnecessary, though. When did she first show up? 52. What would make perfect sense? "Military-trained badass looks around Gotham, sees the lack of a Bat has caused problems, decides to be that Bat using said training."

Wanting to be Batman when you grow up is fine if you a) are a kid, b) know Batman, or c) are an adult replacing Batman. An adult stranger choosing to live in his shadow is... not awesome, and frankly that was a weak and fairly awkward dark spot in Rucka's otherwise spectacular treatment of Helena, who was a kid when she was first inspired by him and took her own name as an adult, so my usual Rucka-based optimism is flagging a bit here.

Not at all, but I'd much prefer for her to not have an "Adam's rib" origin.

Most Excellent SuperSon

This shouldn't make me laugh this hard. It can't be healthy.
