I really don't get DC's desire to grittify He-Man.

That is DC all over at the moment now though, isn't it. Just darken and grittify everything. I mean, yeah, He-Man is high adventure and wacky fun (Myah!) and the people are warm and friendly, but DC is terrified of fun and really insecure that people might look at their comics and not see some sort of respectable art suitable for grown ups (or at least what angry teens seem to think grown up is) and so we get stuff like this.

Wait a minute wasn't the 2002 version of He-Man considered darker than the original. Also to be fair, it's Injustice Crossover. Injustice backstory is morbid. If anything it's just DC responding to the people who bought the game and read the comic. Why would they make a light-hearted crossover for this audience?

"wasn't the 2002 version of He-Man considered darker than the original."

You are correct, it did suck. Yes.

They can make a moody neck snapping Superman for this if they want, but choosing a bright and upbeat other property to do a crossover with is just mismanagement of their properties.

I actually enjoyed that version , but that's the only He-Man that I know to be fair.

It's not as bad as these scans make it out to be. The critics here are stated to be a vocal minority, if that.

Still, it's a far cry from the show. "Faker was better, even though he was a dictator!".

Huh... what point in the Injustice-verse does this take place? I don't remember anything like this from either game, and Superman was incarcerated in-between.

It takes place after the Absolute Power ending. If you pick the Superman ending.

Ohhhh, right... I only got the Batman ending. I really need to get back and do the rest.

So I guess that's the canon one, then?

"What good is being the most powerful man in the universe when you spend half your time as that weakling?"

Lady, his other self is just as muscular! Maybe he's not going to be juggling planets, but I'd say he's at least capable of opening the average pickle jar.
