I’m constantly having to remind people, some of whom work at DC, that Slade is a *villain.* He’s a bad, bad man who does terrible things. But few fans seem all that concerned when Slade slaughters a dozen black soldiers (#6) but the sheer volume of protest over his killing a dog continues to resonate. -- Christopher J. Priest

Analysis of Boston winning the World Series? That would be quite the analysis before 2004. :)

People always get more upset over killing animals over canon fodder in fiction. Everyone loved the scene in Rogue One where Vader went to town on the rebels but if he used his lightsaber on a puppy afterwards I imagine there would be a different reaction. I don't think it's a race thing.

Also his frequent protesting about "Slade is a villain, guyz" is basically "Don't do this cool thing". Reminds me of how George R.R. Martin pretended to be surprised that women like Jaime Lannister and Sandor Clegane or how Vince Gilligan acted like it was somehow wrong that people were rooting for Walter White. It's disingenuous.

(There are some cases where I can understand where they're coming from like Alan Moore and Rorschach but at the same time... you have a violent badass in a trenchcoat and a cool mask who says stuff like "You're locked in here with me" and you're surprised everyone loved him?)

To be fair, Moore at least goes out of his way to portray Rorschach (and, to an extent, more or less every superhero) as completely ineffectual. Even the iconic German Shepherd scene didn't actually accomplish anything other than a few minutes of cheap catharsis for him/the audience, to say nothing of how badly Rorschach gets his ass whooped whenever he can't take someone by surprise.

Fans (like me) could think Deathstroke was a good guy in the early 1990s of DC Comics. He had his own series and actually led the Titans for a bit. And he helped the heroes during "Panic in the Sky."

It was the lead up to Infinite Crisis and the aftermath that revealed Slade Wilson is a petty, petty man. Slade destroyed Bludhaven because Nightwing "turned" Rose against him.

Yeah, it'd be kinda ironic if Marvel sued them for copying Deadpool in a Deathstroke comic.

I still don't get the connection everyone makes between the two other than the fact that they're both mercenaries, and both wear full facemask?

His mask has the tail at the top, he makes pop culture jokes, and breaks the fourth wall.... and you don't see the obviously intentional Deadpool connection?

Has Two-Face shown any indication of having elite fighting skills? He's a good brawler, sure, but I suspect Rose could wipe the floor with him.

OYL Batman trained a somewhat reformed Two Face to protect Gotham, so he and the Robins could hop around the globe retracing the steps he took to become Batman.
