NS: R.I.P. Ed Asner

Famous actor Ed Asner recently passed away. His animated voice roles are too numerous to list -- I think everyone knows him as Carl Fredricksen from Up at this point -- but I think two will probably stick out for comic fans.
First was his role as J. Jonah Jameson Jr. in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon. J.K. Simmons is one of my favorite actors but Ed Asner will always be the definitive Jonah to me. When I saw Up in theaters, I didn't know who Asner was but I immediately recognized Jonah's voice.
He also voiced Granny Goodness on various DCAU projects. I've never watched any of them and don't know much about the character but nonetheless it's clear he does a great job as usual.

It's not really that surprising, but I still felt that hit to the heart just now. The world has lost a talented man.

And the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was one of the many charities he was involved with.
Based purely on his public persona, he just generally seemed like a good guy.

This is such a sad loss. Ed Asner was a wonderful person and a talented voice actor and its a sad loss to the world and the industry that he's no longer with us
