New Suicide Squad trailer has arrived. Like the music choice on this.

Also, still nothing that looks like a spoiler or a big reveal, so feel free to check it out.

Love it or hate it (I sadly lean toward the latter of the two), Gail Simone's impact on post-2000s DC is immeasurable. It was she who made the Birds of Prey soar out from under the shadow of the Bat; she who finally gave Bane some manner of dignity and characterization to lift him out of his post-Knightfall slump; and she who took several villains that no one remembered anymore, assembled them all under the name of an equally forgotten team, and made both awesome beyond imagination.

All told, there are probably a hundred other accomplishments to her name, but there is one that remains of particular interest to me: what is arguably the most badass Mad Hatter appearance in the history of DC.

(Okay, so there's not really much competition, but still.)

It's a moment that's been talked about quite a few times on S_D, but I find it sadly unposted (perhaps a victim of the Great Purge?). So I present it here, in all its creepy glory.

Wow, nobody's posted Suicide Squad yet? Okay then. It's part 1 of 2 "Discipline & Punish." 4 pages.

A-okay - 'Weltschmerz' is a word. )

Tag notes: There's no tag for Voltaic; there is a tag for the other character in these pages, but I'm leaving it off for now so's not to spoil the reveal. There's also no tag for writer Ales Kot.

Four pages from Teen Titans #18 here, in which as with last issue we still have lots of plot threads, but they're moving closer to converging.

We're the only ones who can save each other. )

BTW, it's a little hard to count pages on this thing since they're still double-page spread happy and the pages aren't labeled, but it's Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira on art pages 1-16 and Rodney Buchemi on pages 17-20. By my count that's the last two pages of the Two Teams Fight scenes and the two Times Square pages.

Ah, Arkham Asylum. Hospital for the mentally ill, prison for supervillains and the most mainstream HP Lovecraft reference in comicbooks! Now, when people talk about Arkham, it's normally connected in some manner with how Batman is "incompetant" in some way for not stopping the Joker, Killer Croc and company from routinely escaping from the alleged SuperMax facility whenever the mood strikes them.

Well today I've decided to have a look at the numerous ways that, really, it's really the Arkham members of staff who are at fault here, not just Batman not having the time to physically watch his rogues 24/7 to ensure they don't go walk about. Plus Halloween is coming up, and this is kind of good subject matter for the season.

Let's begin!
