It is unoriginally but accurately titled, “Batman’s Greatest Case.” It’s a sort of summation of my work on Batman drawn by two of the best Bat-artists ever. -- Tom King

I'm such a simple writer. I only write sort of little simple themes, and there are two driving themes of the whole thing and those are Catwoman and Batman and their love, and Bane and Batman and their hate. It's contrasting those two just simple concepts. That's the driving engine of all 100 issues, from issue 1 to issue 103, which is where I'm gonna end the whole series. -- Tom King

It’s a new status quo for Batman that you haven’t seen before. After 78 years of the character, here he’s going to into every situation brand new, but he’s not changed in his Batman ways. He’s still Batman. He’s still Bruce Wayne. He still has the pain. You’re not losing the core of the character, but there’s something new here. He’s going to talk to Superman in a different way now. He’s going to talk to Green Lantern in a different way. He’s going to approach danger in a different way. He’s got a partner that’s his equal in every sort of way but is not the same as him morally. There are plenty of places to point the camera, so we’re going to point it as many places as we can. -- Tom King

When you approach a character like Batman, the only thing you can bring to it that’s new – because Batman’s been written by everybody, has done every medium, for 78 years — is you. In trying to do something different, something that surprises people, you look to what you care about in your life and your great passion. I’m passionately in love with my wife; it’s been that way for 17 years, and that’s a source of great happiness to me and it’s a source of the biggest dramas in my life, the biggest risks I’ve taken in life, like leaving her to go to Iraq or something like that. So, I wanted to bring that emotion and passion and put it into comic books. So, it just comes from me stealing from my own life, which is probably a good place to steal from. -- Tom King

Every other month, we have Mariko Tamaki day, where both Hulk and Supergirl: Being Super are released. That is my favourite new comics day. As a community, we've already covered in depth that Hulk is bloody good, but Being Super seems to have flown under the radar.

Another title for it could be Supergirl: Secret Identity*, or Supergirl: Girl of Steel. It's "retelling her origin for a new generation" but I'm not sure which continuity it fits into, if any. Each issue is a 48 page prestige issue and when it's all said and done, I'm buying the trade as well.

Before we get in to the story, know that it's bloody beautiful. Art is covered by Joelle Jones, who I adored when I first saw her in 2006's 12 Reasons Why I Love Her and followed her to Minx's Token. Since then she's done work at Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and her own series Lady Killer has taken off and Jones has become much, much better. There are jaw dropping, heart stopping splash pages in this book. But that's for another time.

Right now, I'm going to share a short flashback, as an aside from the main story. Being super )

*If you haven't read it, you are doing Superman wrong.
** But not rubbish. Actually, watching that trailer made me annoyed that we didn't get more of beardy Clark travelling the world, looking for his place in it.
