I alludedlast month to the idea that Red Sonja often finds herself drawn by artists who just like to go wild on the idea of a busty powerhouse wearing next to nothing. Sometimes you get a Sonja with no internal organs (or bones, it seems), who absolutely couldn't exist in the real world, let alone swing a shield.

That gets pushed to the extreme in Mars Attacks Red Sonja as we see a Sonja that no amount of glutes workouts and HIIT training can make possible.

"The Charon is the premiere vessel in the Galactic Service for retrieving souls of people important to the war effort. In Outer Darkness, many, many hundreds of years in the future we’ve figured out there is no heaven, no hell. Your soul just gets cast out into infinity… forever, where it’s dark and horrible and filled with things that have been around forever, and that are malignant and evil and awful. Sure, they have the technology to bring back your soul and inset it into a lab grown body — but you have to be pretty damn important for the Service to deem you worthy of retrieval. The crew of The Charon are not the Galactic Service rejects, they the ones strong and brave enough to handle the horrors of space."

Part of my Poison Ivy kick this summer took me to John Layman's Detective Comics. She pops in and out of the Emperor Penguin story, but had more of an impact in the three part Gothtopia that ran in Detective #27-29.

The second issue of John Layman (Chew) and Chris Mooneyham's madcap three-way crossover came out today, so let's go back and see how it started. Six scans from about three/four pages. Also there isn't any actual Dredd in these scans; the reason why he and the other Judges get involved deserves its own post.

The only context I can give you for the first scan is that the Cursed Earth is weird... )

I've seen it. It is objectively bad, not just as an adaptation, but as a film in general. The iFanboy review pointed out a lack of fan service, which was true, but not entirely.

So in Guardians of the Galaxy #24, a Black Vortex amped and power drunk Gamora tries to convince her and Beast's teammates that the Black Vortex is too valuable to be destroyed by showing them what it can turn them into by submitting to the Black Vortex and becoming cosmic versions of themselves.
