Batman does indeed have the letter from his father that Barry gave to him back in Flashpoint #5. Btw does anybody else hear "Paint It, Black" in the back of their mind while looking at Bruce flashback?

The League's unauthorised biographer David Graves faced with his mortality goes on the deep end and targets villains who may know weaknesses the Justice League have. When he can’t find out enough information from villains he targets Colonel Steve Trevor.

Okay, repeated pages from the other posts, but..

FWAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

"I don't HAVE a favourite colour." Jesus Christ, how emo is that?

"MY PARENTS ARE DEEEEEEAAAAAD! I don't have a favourite COLOUURRRR!!"

If that's their attempt to explain why there's zero colour in Batman's new costume.. Ultimate fail. I mean, I can't even bring myself to give a shit that Batman potentially knows this world is completely fucked up.

He's eight and his parents were shot to death in front of him. I think he gets a pass for being a little emo.

If he's STILL doing that as an adult, then yeah he's definitely still got issues. But he's a guy who dresses up in a batsuit to punch criminals at night -- of course he's got issues.

He's eight and his parents were shot dead. Fine, sure. I've felt the same when relatives of mine have died.

But I never felt the need to paint a room a blank colour and declared "I HAVE NO FAVOURITE COLOUR." It's just stupid and comical, and it shows that Johns has zero understanding of Bruce's character. This is a kid who determined that from then on, he'd do his level best to make sure what happened to him didn't happen to anyone else. That doesn't mean Batman doesn't have time for his favourite colour. It's just comical and dumb.

You have no soul...
And Batman beign emo is a proof Johns gets him LOL, I mean yeah batman is emo, and the "paint It black" reference is pure win, hell stupid randomness and funny things is the best Johns has to offer, he almost has enough pages to fill half issue, hahaha, I would totally buy that (cause Im not buying this but those pages plus a little bit of Wonder Woman´s ice cream coments and Hal beign dumb are cool)

Batman is only emo, when written by writers taking lazy shortcuts with the character. Could an emo guy have taken in Dick Grayson? Would it even have occurred to him to?

there should be about 15 to 20 years of character growth between this and taking in Dick.

Fact is his parents loss is traumatizing to him. So seeing something associated with his mom at this point is not going to be his favorite anything. And he's also not going to be thinking about a new favorite either. It's perfectly logical

i find that a tad offensive.... i don't think you should be telling people how they should feel or react to having someone they care about die.... in front of them... violently.... you have your own reaction, that's fine, more power to you for being able to deal with it different. but i can tell you right now. As a 29 year old man, if someone i loved died in front of me violently... or someone i loved died... it would tear me up inside, and yes, i would want to paint my room black, or draw dark images... or feel like a piece of my heart died.... so yes. react how you want, but don't tell me, or anyone else how they should react....

I have to agree. A reaction to a loved one's death wildly varies from person to person. I've known people who have "moved on" and have been able to deal with it and I've known others who have basically let their grief take over and they can be just as depressed/angry/sad even when their loved one has been dead for years. It really just depends on the person.

The Joker if it was, like the silver age, sure. Nowadays no-one's nearly imaginative enough with the character. I keep on saying - if they're insisting on pushing him as a murderer, at least change the MO up a little, every now and then. Even Morrison kept him dull and using razors.

King Bee, Detective Comics 247, memorable for sealing Batman into a small small hexagonal cell with heavy layers of wax to suffocate, and trapping Robin stuck in a jar filling up with of super-sticky honey to drown.
