Need I say more?

Okay... I like this twist. It does nicely explain how he was able to enter the fortress so easily (he knows the tech even better than Clark, if not downright invented some of it) and explains why he seemed so interested in Clark (it doesn't explain Tim, though... he was the one who took Tim, right?).
Some stories have suggested that Jor-El's original plan was less Clark living among humans and more to live like a king, so having him be something in the middle (He thought Earth was a good place, but now he changed his mind) I can take.

Also, he is not Ozymandias with superpowers, which i liked a lot less than the idea of Dr. Manhattan.

"THAT'S NOT TRUE! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!"

"Search your feelings Clark, you know it to be true!"

Now I just want a conversation between him and Cyborg-Superman!Zor-El.

since when? I mean New Krypton never happened here i think? and Cyborg superman's wife was a construct, not actually Alura..

Well, I am mostly joking since I don't think she has ever been (intentionally) written as a villain.

The art is like Greg Capullo-lite, which probably sounds meaner than intended.

This art is awfully similar to Greg Capullo's and that is always a compliment.

Reminds me of a decade ago when I heard ComicGeekSpeak refer to Capullo's art as "McFarlane-lite" for the ever-awful Haunt #1.

I kinda feel like I should've worded that better because saying anything is -lite feels borderline disrespectful. The styles are obviously very similar, but I feel like the artist here (I'll google his/her name in a minute, I'm walking right now) goes a bit lighter on details (Superman's body looks a lot smoother here, whereas Capullo's looks like he tries to pack every anatomical detail into every panel.) You can tell that the artist is absolutely capable of that level of detail, especially from the first page of the comic. Maybe it's a conscious choice simply to differentiate him or herself from Capullo? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

No worries. :) We know it wasn't meant disrespectfully.

They should have gone with Marlon Brando's idea and made Jor-El a donut.

Y'know, just ONCE in comics I wish they could make a really smart person a non-dick. For a while Reed Richards and Niles Caulder were uber-scientists who were beneficient, but Grant Morrison ruined Caulder, and towards the end Reed was often as responsible for the menaces they faced as he was the solution. Batman figured out how to bring down the League and his plans are used to decimate them. Ditto Xavier/Onslaught and the X-Men. Now Jor-El is revealed to be a sinister ubermind.
Jor-El is now a villain? What's next, is Peter Parker's Uncle Ben going to be revealed to be the crime lord of New York City?
