NS: Marvel officially confirms that 'death'

After it was leaked Marvel has gone public with an official press release on the character who will die in the next issue of Amazing Spider-Man.

It's Kamala Khan. She will likely be back in time for her upcoming movie (which is, coincidentally, co-written by Zeb Wells). People are guessing that she will be resurrected as a mutant on Krakoa given that Marvel doesn't want anything to do with the Inhumans anymore and she's a mutant in the MCU complete with the X-Men theme song.

The whole thing is likely done to give her a popularity boost after her last series had terrible sales. If anything, they put her in ASM and have Peter react to her death to give it more visibility.

She is no Rockslide or Mattie Franklin whose dead were done as a side not in big name characters' story. Kamala IS one of the big names (or at least they try very hard to make it so) and what Marvel do here, they do it for her.

You are so full of it, she barely appeared in this run at all. Appearing only to die when she's barely been featured is not, in fact, promoting a character

And a shocking twist death is not in fact the only way to relaunch a character

I generally think obnoxiously chiding people for being upset at something because its "actually great for the character" is being full of it, yes.

Genuinely, what else could "I'm already rolling my eyes at the people saying "fridging" every time a female characters dies.
That "death" is the best thing to happen to Kamala since her last series ended. It means there are some big plans for her." be?

Kamala IS one of the big names

How many big name characters have been killed off in a book they barely appeared in for the purpose of making the star of said book (more) miserable?

There's a reason the only people happy about this are comicsgaters.

Usually, big name character have their own ongoing, so they can die there.
But her latest solos didn't have such big sales, otherwise she'd still have one.
I have an example, stilll: Bruce Banner was killed in Carol and Tony's silly little war.

People won't talk about Peter. They will talk about Kamala. Generate buzz until she gets a relaunch.
I wish Mattie was treated "as bad" as her.
I'll keep my outrage for characters that I don't know if Marvell will bother to bring them back.

As for comicsgaters, they are tourists who don't know how comics work, so maybe they think she's actually gone forever, like they do every time somebody like Hulk or Iron Man dies.

Kamala had a tv show just last year and is appearing in a movie. She didn't need a stunt like this for people to talk about her. Her latest solo didn't sell because people didn't like the story, not because there wasn't interest in the character.

This move would have been insulting if done to someone more obscure like Mattie. It's even worse if Kamala is supposed to be a big name. And no one liked it when Bruce was killed off in Civil War 2 either.
