Avengers #298

The Avengers disbanded after the whole mess with “Nebula” and now Jarvis is the only one left to stand against the demons of Inferno.

The car doesn’t take kindly to being robbed of its prey and transforms. Insert your own sound effect.

The Captain has just returned from the Avengers Annual that was part of the Evolutionary War crossover.

So, it was some kind of robot in disguise, eh?

Certainly was more than meets the eye, wasn't it?

Jarvis as the hero, getting the girl.

Steve somehow wearing his Captain suit under slacks, loafers, and a trenchcoat because by goodness he’s trying to be subtle…

You can only go so wrong with a story where Jarvis is the primary hero, but the series still has a way to go before it would really shake off that Druid-induced malaise. A shame we never saw Glory again AFAIK, but we can assume she and Edwin had a nice short-term relationship, at least.

The story benefits, oddly enough, from being an Inferno tie-in. A ready-made threat calls the unlikeliest Avenger to action, and it's a lot more fun to read than it would be watching Jarvis try to phone the ex-Avengers and fail to motivate them to return.

Glory appeared once or twice more but hasn’t been seen in several decades. I choose to believe she and Jarvis are still together though.
