Guy Gardner: Warrior #18

Writer: Chuck Dixon

Pencils: Mitch Byrd

Inks: Dan Davis

Guy’s Power Ring is acting up, so he has Ted Kord come up with a solution.

Ted gives Guy one of Booster's backup suits.

I think Ted might purposely be trying to make Guy look stupid.

Ice is in the Arctic doing some soul-searching, so Guy heads out there to try and reconcile.

...so...who is this guy that has so much beef with Guy? I mean, a lot of people have beef with Guy, but not many are at "stretch your intestines across a land mass" levels of beef.

Is he like that the Master of Vengeance from Marvel? The guy who wanted revenge on Spider-Man...but when Spider-Man finally unmasked him, he had absolutely no idea who it was and it turns out they had never met before? It wasn't even that Peter had forgot, he just NEVER met him.

That would be a good bit for Guy. Dude shows up, wrecks stuff, calling out Guy to come and face his arch nemesis, for the sins of Guy's past.

"Hey, you're gonna have to narrow things down a bit, pal, I've ruffled a LOT of feathers in my time!"

I don't buy this. Ted Kord is someone whom Guy once attacked from behind in a boxing ring because Guy couldn't handle the fact that Ted was winning the match. For his part, Ted once commissioned a giant ice-skating float just to humiliate Guy. Lotta bad blood between them.

Ted might be willing to look past their history to some degree if they really have to work together for whatever reason. But do I think Ted would say that Guy deserves any kind of super-powers? Or help him get them? Absolutely not.

Who haven't Beetle and Booster commissioned a giant ice skating float to humiliate with? It just seems a thing they would do. Often.

Guy and the villain are both wearing bulky, hideous power armor, and meanwhile Tora is cosplaying as the Black Cat. Oh, the '90s. *sigh*

It feels out of character for Tora to have cleavage down to her navel.

Well, if Tora's doing some soul searching, perhaps she's just misunderstood the meaning of the phrase "contemplating your navel".
