BEEYOOTIFUL ART BY JAIME HERNANDEZ
Hey you guyyyys, I heard that you guys like pretty things? And
nevermore999 needs some Wonder Woman fanart?
WELL
Unfortunately I have no shipping pictures, but I do have a buttload of gorgeous Wonder Woman and Superheroine art by the ONE and ONLY monstrously talented JAIME HERNANDEZ of Love & Rockets!

First, the lovely Wonder Woman herself. Hola!

Here a few more superwomen from both DC and Marvel that Jaime's drawn for fans or as spot illustrations:

Oh gosh! Supergirl!

It's the Black Widow! (I think? Superheroes ain't my specialty.) SHE PAINTS ON HER COSTUME I DID NOT KNOW THAT

Medusa is waving at me! NOT YOU! ME!

Cutie-pie Wasp!

Kitty looks rather shy in an appropriately teenagery kind of way.

Grr-rowwl. Hiss hiss.
Okay well now if you enjoyed those things but do not know much about Jaime Hernandez and the Love & Rockets comic series that him and his brothers have been blowing minds with since like forever well then I will tell you then that you might very much like his actual comics stuff too! Not a lie! It's fabulous!
And now I will tell you more about Jaime if you like! IF YOU DO NOW LIKE IT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ! It's okay, my feelings will not be hurt. These are the characters Jaime's most well known for:

The Locas! Maggie Chascarillo and Hopey Glass, life-long punks, best friends, and sporadic lovers. Jaime been following them through their lives together and apart for years and they're still going strong, still trying to grow up, still trying to understand themselves and each other. This is a more current picture of Maggie:

Seems like Jaime's gotten a little bit obsessed with superheroes again as of late in his Love & Rockets: New Stories collections. His newest work brings a jumble of aging and newbie superheroines together into the generally mundane world of his favorite characters Maggie and Hopey and not nobody even flinches. Maggie gets positively giddy when she finds out that apartment tenants appears to enjoy an unusual nightlife...

...but her giddiness wanes a little when her sweet friend Angel starts feeling inspired to reinvent herself as her own kind of crime fighter:

Wooo-ha! They've put out some lovely giant collections of The Locas stories that make a great introduction to the stories now and I highly recommend them! OKAY REALLY I AM DONE NOW SORRY IF I CRASHED YOUR BROWSER COMICS ARE JUST SO AMAZING!
EDIT: Hopefully I am doing this right. Suggested tags: char: wonder woman/diana of themyscira, char: wasp/janet van dyne, char: medusa/medusalith amaquelin, char: black widow/natasha romanova, char: supergirl/kara zor-el, char: catwoman/selina kyle, char: shadowcat/kitty pryde, creator: jaime hernandez, title: love and rockets

No! You heard wrong! We demand ugly things! LIEFELD ART AND GREG LAND PORNFACES FOR ALL!
But seriously, that's some pretty awesome art you posted there. That's Catwoman pic's my favourite. Kudos and thumbs up all around.

Exactly! I mean, what is wrong with this Hernandez person? His women actually have logical proportions and their faces look different from each other. And some of them even have feet! What is this crap?!

WHAT IS THIS CRAP GREG LAND WOMEN ARE WAY MORE REALISTIC BECAUSE HE TRACES THEM FROM MAGAZINES

I saw those pics again when I checked the tags for Hernandez - how weird! I'm so used to seeing the lamest/weirdest entries on MightyGodKing's blog that it breaks my brain a little to see a Hernandez brother sneak in there.

His brother Gilbert, in contrast, while a talented artist in his own right, seems to have chosen these last several years to draw pretty much only painfully, unrealistically large-breasted and tiny-torsoed women (at least in his Luba stories). I much prefer his earlier Palomar stories where the women characters came in all sizes and ages, and weren't all inadvertent walking advertisements for breast-reduction surgery and chiropractic.

That's where I think I have problems with Gilbert's work too, I think...as time goes on I feel like his character designs tend more and more towards caricature, obviously with Luba and Killer and so on with the BoobyLadies. I recognize that he's trying to use these stereotypes for his own purposes but they really do get in my way of connecting with the characters and seeing them as three-dimensional. I just spend the whole time reading going "....her boobs are bigger than her waist?"

haha but goddamn that thing is huge. and the first stories are kinda dense. I might recommend just flipping through and taking a couple tastes here and there -- the Hernandez Brothers really excel in writing stories that can be picked up halfway along the way and still be enjoyed.

Those Wonder Women look like drag queens.
. . . everyone else is unconditionally awesome, but those Wonder Women.
