Count Your Sheep (A Surprisingly Addictive, Sleep-Inhibiting Webcomic)

So because I need an excuse to stay on the computer and because s_d needs more cute, I give you "Count Your Sheep."

Throw in lots of sleep-related jokes, a hearty influence of "Calvin and Hobbes," some reality about single moms, and a pick between either blue tones or pink and you get Count Your Sheep. a cute webcomic created by Adrian Ramos. Like most webcomics I have read, "Count Your Sheep" starts with a simplistic jokes and an emerging art style, but it soon becomes one of the cutest and most touching webcomics I've ever read. The story is simple: a single mom named Laurie and her little daughter named Katie both share an "imaginary" sheep friend named Ship, who helps them out with everything from philosophical questions to the washing machine.

As you can clearly see, the webcomic definitely evokes the "Awwww!" response often...

...but can also delve into the trials and tears of poverty....

...with a dash of humor...

...and a happy resolution

But I also love the webcomic for its geek references...

...and popculture references....

sometimes in the same strip!

And then what really got me hooked was the backstories, like this little teaser about Katie's father:

It's hard to explain the revealing stories, depth of the characters, and general optimism of the webcomic in only a single post, so go and read it!

Count Your Sheep might be my favorite webcomic in the world. Probably 'cause it reminds me a lot of my childhood (my mom was/is quite a bit like Laurie). I recently got a friend addicted to it, too!
