New podcast features 3 Women reviewing comics

Kelly Thompson of CBR's "She Has No Head" has a new podcast with two participants you might be familiar with.

The podcast, 3 Chicks Review Comics, features Kelly along with Maddy [personal profile] mad from Scans_Daily and some big mouth with a blog about DC women.

You can read more and listen here.

And for legality, three other chicks.

I was tempted just to throw in a contextless "But you're GIRLS, what could you possibly know about comics worth a podcast?" for shits and giggles, but I doubt even I have enough accumulated goodwill to last past the third response so it would be all shits, no giggles. ;)

Congrats to all, I'll download and have a listen later.

See, you pitch her as "feminist" anything and you lose everyone in Hollywood right there, is the problem with a Wonder Woman movie.

Not they don't know it's there anyway, which is the other problem.

/obvious topic of interest is obvious

I didn't, but I feel like I can probably guess what it said. :/

Thing is, you guys talked about her needing an advocate, and I know Parse and I have talked about that here, too, and ultimately I think what it comes down to is that I'm pretty sure that if Geoff Johns did like Diana instead of Hal, he simply wouldn't have been given the freedom he was. Actually I suspect he wouldn't even be Geoff Johns in the first place - it seems to me that the kind of person who likes the kind of character that Diana is, is the kind of person who simply doesn't become a keys-to-the-universe Big Name In The Industry like your Johns/Morrison/Bendis types, and is therefore never going to be in a position to advocate the way Johns did for Hal or Bendis for Luke Cage.

Which means, really, DC is right not to trust her; her character and her stories don't click with the people who move books, either on the writing end or the reading end. If only they understood that the solution to that is to embrace a bigger audience, like, I dunno, the American moviegoing population.

Literally the only way anyone could actually successfully make a good Wonder Woman movie is pretend to be making a completely different movie, then hide the actual movie they are making until it is too far into production to reshoot without bankrupting everyone involved.

Hmm. I wonder if something like The Venture Brothers isn't the angle to take with Wonder Woman. Approach the thing from the perspective that, "Yes, isn't all this stuff...magic lasso, invisible plane, star-spangled panties...ridiculous," but at the same time make the characters so likable that you accept these are good, decent people dealing with craziness thrust upon them.

TBH what she needs is a thing where anyone who shows up on set and says anything like "isn't all this stuff...magic lasso, invisible plane, star-spangled panties...ridiculous" gets a smack in the face and then kicked off the set.

That's right, because the problem with Wonder Woman is that she's isn't a joyless bore who takes herself too seriously.
