Teaser for Captain America #600

Spoilers, of course.

Photobucket

Yes, that's Femme!Bucky from the Heroes Reborn titles. She was transported to Earth 616 at the end of Onslaught Reborn (which I've been meaning to post for a while, but you know. LIEFELD and LOEB.)

If there's interest in me posting stuff from that series I will.

Edit: I forgot the source! IO9 is where I saw this posted. Sorry!

That is a super-cool costume she's got.

Her being Bucky's Bucky would be . . . something.

That pic and costume design are awesome.

This will be interesting....

Loving the uniform, but I don't trust the creative team any further than I could throw them.

Because Marvel has left me inherently wary of all the things they do involving characters I like.

I feel ya, but Brubaker has a rep for making the best of bad editorial decisions.

It's interesting that Bru is using an alternate universe plot point, it's so far removed from the military/espionage/24-esque feel of the book.

I gave up on Brubaker after endless issues of Sharon being a pathetic mindcontrolled pregnant victim who did nothing more useful than weep and get rescued. There were other irritations, mind you, but that was a big one.

Hmmm.

REBORN you say? Where'd I hear that title earlier?

[identity profile] ian_karkull.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe somebody remembered this!
Or more accurately: I can't believe Brubaker got this okayed instead of instantly being bludgeoned to death by Editorial, due to the character's association with He Who Must Not Be Named Except In Wailing All Caps Of Despair.

Either way, she looks hella cool here.

Bucky, being on Counter-Earth now rather than in another universe, is part of the main MU, though admittedly a part that tends to get overlooked... A LOT!

Costume is gooooorgeous. My goggle fetish strikes again!

What happened to counter Earth in that? I did'nt even know OR actualy finished,i remember the previews being dredful.
That mean she's been on Earth the WHOLE time and only show up now?

[identity profile] hybrid2.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
normally i would ask for scans but i'll spare the cummunity.

[identity profile] demonprawn.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Brubaker's just doing this to show off. "Look I'm gonna make you like a character created by Liefeild AND Loeb."

I'll admit, this image is a good start. The costume is Awsomesauce.

Turd souffle with chantrelles and a pomegranete reduction is still... yeah.

A little enlightnment here? Who is this woman?

[identity profile] filbypott.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking more along the lines of making lemonade from lemons, but whatever analogy works for ya, man.

[identity profile] nagaoka.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
That is a seriously awesome design.

[identity profile] jcbaggee.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
She's been in the 616 Universe for a while now, hasn't she? I seem to remember hearing about her showing up on Earth after Heroes Reborn and then just disappearing

[identity profile] jcbaggee.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
She's affectionately called Girl Bucky. She was Cap's Bucky in the Heroes Reborn bubble universe that existed for a year after Onslaught.

[identity profile] statham1986.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think Bru's gonna knock this one out of the park, myself. I can see Rikki teaming up with the 50's Cap, myself, purely due to the fact that he's probably the closest thing to the Cap of her world.

Still, I do find it curious that Bru would pick her up as a character, but, that said, the less he mentions the alternate-world and Onslaught stuff, the easier it's going to be to fit her in. As it is, it really is difficult to guess where he'll put her, really, but somehow, I just don't see her being Bucky's Bucky.

[identity profile] statham1986.insanejournal.com 2009-05-14 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
She got dumped on the 616 Earth following Onslaught Reborn, and was pretty much the sole plot thread anyone would want to pick up from that garbage.

It fits in nicely with the new habit of replacing male heroes and villains with females of the same name - Kraven, Bullseye, etc, but Bru could definitely make this work. Lady Bullseye was damn good.
