Also, there's a NSFW Tumblr who is insanely popular in Brazil, Porra Maurício (loosely translated as F* YOU Maurício, the author). It takes images of the original series and comments on them out of context (sort of an expanded "context is for the weak" series). It has a back-story (a comics critic in Brazil went to criticize said stories, but largely ignoring the context), but also shows how popular those comics became by MAINTAINING an all-ages feel.

That's why I've been watching MLP with my 2yo and haven't read much DC comics since the mid-90's.
