Question for the marvel fen about Eli Bradley

I'm fairly certain that it's never mentioned in canon whether Eli Bradley practices any particular faith, if at all. But considering his family, it's always been my head canon that he's muslim - though I'm not positive about which branch. I'm fairly split between the Nation of Islam and Sunni Islam, but there are of course other branches and off-shoots... (Is it ever elaborated on in canon what branches Faith Shabazz and Josiah X belong to? The name changes imply Nation, but I'm not sure if it's ever actually outright said. This is what I get for not having read The Crew yet.)

What's your opinion? Do you have head canon regarding other characters religious affiliations (or lack there of)? Share!

Legalese: from Dark Reign: Young Avengers because it still remains awesome always and forever.

Batman's aetheism is one thing (though he has pondered how sincere he can be about it in a world where Diana and Captain Marvel, both empowered by deities, exist) but his random outright rejection of the supernatural was even mocked by Nightwing who, when told by Batman that people don't come back from the dead, replies by saying "I'm going to just mention a few names to you; Boston Brand, Phantom Stranger, the Spectre..." and continues on. Of course, this is never addressed in story due to, IIRC villains interfering.

I wonder if this might not be the difference between believing in the existence of gods, and having faith in them.

It's more akin to the difference between believing in the existence of God and having lunch with Him. Bats sees all the so-called deities cut down to size.

That's one reason I have a hard time believing there are any atheists in comics. Um , hey Bats, you've worked with Zauriel a few times, right? As you said, Diana and Captaim Marvel, and the gods that give them their powers? How does that "Does not exist" thing work for you, now?

Greg Rucka said this once about writing The Spectre:

“It becomes tricky to negotiate if you start inviting real religion into it and we’re not going to do that,” Rucka added. “But the sort of unspoken rule in the DCU is that the Judeo-Christian God sits above all others. And then below that you can have your New Gods and your Greek gods and whoever else you want.”

I think that's probably the simplest way to leave it in order to make any sense out of all the various religions/beliefs' mythology being made true in different series and having those series cross over.

It does make it quite impossible to have comic representations of atheists and skeptics in the Big Two without them coming across as being willfully ignorant, but what else you gonna do?
