It'll be interesting to see what they're going to do with Hope now that she's finished what she was created for. (Repowering mutants.) Is there gonna be any more to the mutant messiah or was that pretty much it?
Either way, I'm guessing we're done with the whole "Lights" thing.
I was thinking that, too. I find her far more interesting now that the whole heavy handed "Messiah" thing is over with. If they're going to use her, I'd like to see her become a fully rounded character, not just a plot device.
I think the Lights, with the exception of Idie, are probably swept under the rug at this point. I'll just pretend they went back to their lives somehow. Except for the dog guy, I guess...
Honestly, even reading X-Factor in real time, Layla/Jamie is still kind of weird and creepy. I will never stop side eyeing PAD for going in that direction.
I really do want to like this. I liked Hope when she was running around with Cable, despised the character when she wasn't. This might make her interesting again.
... Yeeeaaahh, I can't imagine why normal humans are scared of mutants, considering that a (justifiably) angry girl can wreck everything in a half-mile radius without really meaning to. o_o
Do you know what I'd like to see? A group devoted only to 'dealing with' high level mutants. Like, if a guy shoots spines, or a girl can control the temperature in the room? They not only don't persecute, but wouldn't mind having someone on their side. But people like Cable, Hope, and anyone else of power? They lobby for legal restrictions, fund countermeasure projects, etc..
... That is actually a REALLY COOL idea. Because it just makes logical sense; persecuting all mutants when some of them have totally harmless powers just seems needlessly petty. Focusing on actual dangerous mutants while accepting the low-level ones is just common sense.
Especially since it could create a schism in mutant society - low-level mutants have an equal right to fear really powerful mutants and resent the bad rap they're giving the rest of them. Which means you'd have mutants judging each other and even turning each other in, breaking up mutant solidarity into different facets depending on their power level and perhaps even how they look. (I can imagine some mutants playing up how they're basically normal, unlike those really freaky looking mutants.)
Plus they wouldn't exactly have stable relations with anti-mutant groups either.
If I ever get to write X-men, they'd be central to my run.

Exactly :)
Imagine a scene where Wolverine draws his claws on someone he thinks is an anti-mutant bigot, only for the person to geek out over them, and then try to recruit him, citing the time Magneto ripped out his adamantium, and points out people with adamantium claws or phasing are never going to threaten the world, but should play a role in protecting it from those who can.

I anyone ever remembered Rachel was a Summers. Which they rarely do.
Still - kick his ass, kid.
