He shall show you fear in a handful of dust.... um... again

Out this week, and I'd forgotten about it, is the first issue of "Sandman: Overture", as Neil Gaiman returns to his most extraordinary creation.

From CBR's preview and interview

Neil Gaiman and JH Williams III? Welp, that's me sold!

“People have often asked me what happened to Morpheus to make it possible for him to be captured in THE SANDMAN #1,” Gaiman said. “And now they get to find out. And finding out, they get to learn secrets of the Endless that I’ve kept to myself for 25 years. Family secrets. And I should warn you: one of the Endless dies on page five.”

With speech bubbles.

No but that is the best way for our mind to process those sections since we lack the appropriate levels of cosmic awareness.

It did have pictures in it when destiny relinquished control of it in "The Brave and the Bold: Lords of Luck," not that that I'd expect Gaiman to care too much about the continuity for his characters that he wasn't involved with.

Why aren't Death's speech bubbles black with white text?

Gah, you're totally right! I only recently (as in the past year or so) discovered Sandman and I guess my brain wasn't firing on all cylinders (I feel silly)

Well, it is a representation of the universe in a comic book. Kind of natural for it to have pictures.
