Batman Day Post! - Batman: The Suicidal Knight
Belated, I guess! Anyway, Robin Rises Part 2: Batman picks his ka-tet.
One Line Summary:
The Justice League forcefully forbid Batman from going to Apokolips, so he calls for new backup...
The Story:
Batman tries to get Version 2 of that sweet armor he used in Night of the Owls. The League (who helped him build it) locks the armor down, restrains him, and for the first time in a long time, Batman gives up.
Later that night, while Kalibak comes into possession of Robin's coffin, Bruce is comforted by Superman, and says some words of apology.

And then he goes right ahead and does this.

"Glad you're all here...Let's get to it."

On one hand, I like how Batman calmly accepts the Justice League's refusal. On the other hand, HIS FAMILY IS GOING TO DIE.
Still, I'm a fan of these core Bat-family reunions! I'd really want to see them take on Apokolips and win. And they'd be all "let's Boom Tube back to Alfred, all battle-damaged and unmasked and whatnot, carrying Robin's coffin."
And then Alfred will say, "Would you care for some dinner?" and then they'd say "Yes, please, Alfred." And then they'd eat some dinner and I've said too much.
But yeah, BAT-FAMILY!

And seriously? Someone who has known Bruce for longer than five minutes fell for that "I understand the error of my ways and won't undertake that foolishly, suicidally risky action."
Superman is NOT that naive.

As for the Superman, I dunno - I haven't really read much of his New 52 relationship with Bruce, to be honest, so I'm not sure how close they are for Clark to know something's up.

And in effect, all that their actions achieved was that, instead of Batman going to Apokalips with the armour, he's going to Apokalips without the armour.

Is there some reason why it's bad for everyone else if Batman goes to Apokolips? Like, Darkseid will retaliate against Earth or something?
Because if they're just trying to stop him because it's suicidally dangerous for him...well, he's Batman. And they're superheroes. It seems awfully silly to try to physically prevent him from doing this particular suicidally dangerous thing, as opposed to the suicidally dangerous things they all do every Tuesday.

Heh. Nice. As for the Darkseid may retaliate against Earth thing...hmm, I actually forgot to consider that.
It'll probably depend on whether Batman's little "strike team":
a) ...actually encounter Darkseid (smart!Kalibak seems to be filling the arc villain role)
b) ...try to keep a low profile. Which, given how much trouble a group of heavily-armed, brightly costumed vigilantes tend to rack up, they'll probably fail at.

Heh, great, now I hope the real twist in this story is that they actually finish through this entire campaign in complete stealth and without attracting any attention. I wonder...

Edit: Wait, are you telling me that I just jacked up the bandwidth to Scans Daily by not enunciating?
