The comic seems blatant in making Cap act as if his old life was a joke and irrelevant which was never the case. Steve was always humble always loved to draw even when he was Cap. He's done portraits of the some of members of the Avengers during off time.
Was he making fun of his past, or was he simply mocking how dated his comics here had been (and at what age did he write these specific ones, anyways)?
