Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #43 - "The One Where They Go To Earth"

"It’s an optimistic quest, and optimism is at the heart of the book. True, you might sometimes have to dig through layers of cynicism and even nihilism to get to it, but underpinning the broader story arc, as unfashionable as it may be, is that sense of hope." -- James Roberts

So the plan is to send their own holo-avatars to the fake Earth to investigate and figure out just what's going on:

Finally, they find Swerve's avatar:

This was a fantastic issue. Not only did we get a great character focus on Swerve, but we also got numerous call-backs to previous issues (which spill over into the next issue's preview).

It's too bad you couldn't devote some of the page space to Megatron's holomatter avatar, as well as his reaction to being "human."

I'm not following this series, but I saw some scans on Tumblr, and HOLY FUCK HUMAN!MEGATRON LOOKS AWESOME :DDD

Foxy grampa? Check
Swaggy cane with Decepticon symbol? Check
Badass trenchcoat? Check
The closest thing to "spikes of villainy" shoulderpads a good guy can have? Check

10/10, A+, would buy again.

I also like that he clearly looks sickly. You can't tell from his mech form since they can't exactly make metal look pale or tired, but I like that you can look at his human form and see something wrong. He has been drinking poison for months now.

Pretty much the only thing I didn't like (though I don't actively hate it either) is that he looks too thin imo. Dude was the strongest gladiator and he normally towers over the other characters (even if you often can't tell because he is drawn next to Ultra Magnus), I would have preferred him to be bulkier.

Also I'm perplexed he is white. I could have sworn he would be a poc.

He looks like a cross between Dr. Claw and an anime villain, which I doubt was unintentional (and is likely why he's white). I don't think he looks too thin; he's lean, but his shoulders are huge, and he towers over the other characters.

Megatron certainly shows his age more in this form. Not only is he surviving on a "strength sapping" energon substitute, but he mentioned to Ravage that he feels old. His body is a mess from refits over the years, and despite changing sides to the Autobots it's clear that he's feeling directionless (especially after Trailcutter's death).

I'd really just love a series focusing entirely on Megatron's journey to find some new meaning in his life. I find stories about villains turning over a new leaf fascinating.
