Off-Topic Tuesday!

In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

I'm not going to mention politics specifically, but I will share a new word I learned this week;

Kakistocracy - Government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens

I can't imagine why that seemed relevant....

I hope everyone survived Black Friday intact, or took part in the far less stressful sounding "Buy Nothing Friday".

After about 18GB of downloads, patches and copious swearing in my most Scottish accent, I've managed to get my Year 2 characters and levels of LEGO Dimensions updated and working!

My thanks for previous podcast recommendations, I'm particularly enjoying The Bright Sessions, a series about a therapist and her "Atypical" patients (eg superpowered) that manages to be fascinating in a very "original New Mutants" sort of a way as we see how their abilities have impacted their day to day lives (The progression of the young empath trying to sort out his emotional life is adorable)... There are a few interesting subplots too.

I looked long and hard for whimiscally distracting news stories, but they seem in short supply, so if anyone has any local news of that sort they'd care to share, that would be awesome.

Interested in the new Pokémon games, especially the Pokédex entires for the older Pokémon adding new details (worldbuilding!)

But it's been a while since I played a Pokémon game (the last one was White 2). All the gameplay changes seem daunting, and the idea of having to catch over 700 'mons, to a person with a low attention span... errf...

Also, saw that new Ghosbusters movie.
Enjoyable, though most of the jokes (especially early on) were a little too juvenile.
But still enjoyable.

The gameplay changes aren't all that daunting. Everything has been really refined over the years and the game does start you off with a lengthy tutorial to get you back into the groove of things. Also, don't worry about getting 700 mons. There's barely 200 in this and the only partial requirement is just to see them all, not catch (which just means fight every trainer you encounter).

I would definitely recommend this game if you want to come back to series, being very new and returning player friendly, strong characters, and a very engaging story overall.
