He's a garbage fire excuse of a human being with unlimited money, no conscience, no restraint, and we already know he's going to get everything because that's how he shows up in the movie.
It's showing what happened between Biff getting the Sports Almanac and when Marty and Doc returned to 1985 after their trip to 2015, by the guy who co-wrote the movies.
What's there to prove? It's filling in a lightly-touched on part of the story.
