Mephisto vs. The Silver Surfer
With fan speculation that Sigourney Weaver may be playing Mephisto in the upcoming show The Defenders, I thought it would be neat to revisit one of his first encounters with them, all the way back in Defenders #100...

You've got to love that last image of him.
Mephisto: Lord of deceit, father of all lies, flails around like an angry cat when mildly inconvenienced.

This is definitely one of them.

And I think they had had "Son of Satan" and "Daughter of Satan" as headliners by this time. I think it may have been in the 1980's that they sort of stuck those characters on a shelf. Then they went through a period of leaning heavily on Mephisto as the main devil-figure while having him profess agnosticism as to whether he was the same being as "Satan."

I really, really, REALLY hate all the Ninja stuff in Daredevil. So her being Mephisto is pretty much the only reason I'd watch this show. Even great characters like the Defenders don't have much to do if you don't give them a worthwhile antagonist.
I'd rather have Mephisto elsewhere
But the Street level Netflix version, would be somewhat out of their league. I'd rather Mephisto was kept for maybe a Dr Strange or Avengers movie. (It's too late I suppose for the character to pop up in Infinity War. But that would have been a nice tip of the hat to the original Infinity Gauntlet Storyline. I suspect Loki will play the equivalent wild card in the movies.)
