But read it with the lights on, because it will mess you up, man. It is brutal. And insane. And brilliant. It was there that the character of Carnage bloomed for me as a fan. He's been my favorite bad guy ever since, and to be able to write him is such a huge treat. And to my utter delight, KYLE HOTZ has come back to Carnage to give us our cover!! Wasn't Cletus left floating in space after being Poisoned, with the Symbiote destroyed following Go Down Swinging?

Cletus fell back to Earth and was burned up in the atmosphere where he was taken by the Knull cult who revived him. And Cletus still had remnants of the Carnage symbiote in his DNA that Scorn was able to regenerate.

My apologies for my ignorance, I haven't been keeping up with Donny Cate's Venom, but...

Wait, what? Why is Scorn in a cult? Why is Scorn trying to help Carnage?

I can't believe Scorn hasn't been in comics for like 10 years and when she comes back it's leading a Carnage cult and immediately gets killed

Scream and Hybrid in the " Agent Venom " run, the team made with the re-separated Hybrid in Deadpool vs. Carnage - if you're a symbiote character who isn't Venom or Carnage, you're fodder.

(Granted, Eddie needed symbiote-host-killing cred and Deadpool needed to combine with four symbiotes.)

Apparently the editors ordered that most of the other symbiotes aside from Venom and Carnage to be killed off at the time, that's what the writer of Agent Venom said IIRC

I quite like the art here, though it's a little disappointing to see Carnage immediately revert to his normal appearance (if a bit bulkier) rather than keeping a slightly modified look.

I think the revelation that Cletus was born in Ravencroft is goofy and overly mythologizing, I think he's more interesting as a mundane serial killer. Also, frankly, not thrilled about seeing Cletus back at all, the dude's been killed off repeatedly at this point and it seems clear that it's because he's utterly one-note. I'd be much more interested to see the Carnage symbiote applied to some other hosts.
