Things were going on in Sierra Muerte.

G.I. Joe and Cobra were in the country, fighting over a weapons cache.

Zartan and his siblings'd gone after the only living person who knew how to harness the cache.

They were foiled by Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, and Stalker.

(The Commander is sick.)

In an uptown hotel, the Baroness was meeting with Destro, to secure his services in securing the cache.

Destro revealed that he already knew about the cache - that he'd taken what he could, and let both Cobra and the Joes know about it after.

" This benefits you, darling. Hear me out. "

(There's a panel in the first issue of this that might explain when the Baroness got tagged with that.)

" My guards.. "

" .. must've been sleeping on the job. "

They were confronted by Flint and Lady Jaye.

A battle ensued.

One of Destro's wrist rockets went wide and off, scattering civilians and filling the air with smoke.

Jaye's shot hit one of Destro's rockets while it was still on his wrist.

The subsequent explosion and scream brought the Baroness and Flint running.

Back at Cobra's Sierra Muerte headquarters, Storm Shadow was strapped down.

" You'll have to execute some measure of patience if we are to survive tomorrow's procedure. "

" Don't give me this we crap. It's not you going under. "

Mindbender explained why they had to take their time with Storm Shadow's body.

" .. kill G.I. Joe.. "

(Pagecount's 8 of 24 from G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte #2.

#3 ended the series last week.

Writing and art's all Michel Fiffe.)

Fourth panel, what's with the yellow stuff?

I think it's just a motion marker, trailing CC's collapse. The art is ... not terribly sophisticated, but it is not as bad as Scioli.

On one hand, I think Fiffe is a stronger artist than he is a writer so I really hope he'll draw someone else's story some day, so the story can finally do justice to the dynamic pictures. On the other hand, I realize a huge part of what makes Fiffe's art sing is precisely that it's telling his own story, and there's this storytelling symbiosis between words and pictures that's almost unparalleled...

What to do, what to do? Maybe if he were to do an old school Marvel-style "artist works from a loose plot and dialogue only gets filled in afterward" job with someone?
