Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64
Spidey's first encounter with Cloak and Dagger.
Of course, Cloak and Dagger's extreme methods would eventually get toned down. Maybe they got fed up of Spider-Man's incessant criticism and were like ‘urgh, fine. No more killing’.
Compare that to the Punisher, whose methods seem to get more extreme.
I am also reminded of the X-Men's previous attempts at appropriating non-mutant heroes. Cloak and Dagger, Namor, Gwenpool, now it’s Ms. Marvel. Make of that what you will.
Cloak and Dagger were eventually retconned to not be mutants after all and everybody seems to have forgotten about whether Namor is a mutant or not.

I was just thinking about that the other day. In the 80s and 90s it was an attempt to boost sales.
When Gwenpool became a mutant (how does someone from the "real world" have the X-gene?) It was a shortcut to immortality. Given the current s status quo, it feels like Ms Marvel is going to be the last person to benefit from that particular hack for a while.

By using her flashback retcon powers to introduce the possibility of her memories of the real world being due to the shock of her mutant powers manifesting
Suggested, ironically enough, by Kamala herself.

She must have totally missed what happens to most junior X-Men who lose their books.
