The Falcon is put on trial for his crimes as ‘Snap’ Wilson. However, his former business partners fear that he will snitch on them, so they hire Stiltman to take him out.
Next time we skip ahead to Jack Kirby's return. Night Flyer, Hell yeah!
(Is anyone, Englehart aside, a fan of the Snap crap?)
I don't imagine there is, no.
But getting back to Priest, he did have Ross point out the illogic of Sam's criminal background meshing with his work as a social worker. But in comics, that's hardly the greatest suspension of disbelief and it was just an offhand comment.
Moreover, he did use the 'Snap' persona in his Captain America and Falcon series, though Wanda was involved (Avengers Disassembled)
I think Priest is of the generation of writers who don't throw out canon the way modern writers do (for better or worse. Better, in Sam's case), is all.
