Darn you, I was going to post this...after I cooked breakfast. *shakes fist*
Peej and Terra need to go shopping every issue.
Aside from the cute, I love the names of everything. (I do wonder if they fit with proper Swedish spelling rules. This is the kind of thing I think about...)
I'm especially amused by Kara trying to drag Atlee away from the fud (>_>), and yet she's nomming on a Cinnamon Tejsti-Rohl at the end of the page. (Incredibly cutely, of course.) She needs to buy her a stuffed animal, now...maybe it'll keep her from getting dragged to bad romance movies in future.
And after this issue, it's impossible not to 'ship these two....
Oh, I knew it wasn't Swedish - I wouldn't have been amused by the names had I not noticed they were English words just spelt by Swedish rules, or mis-spelt in ways meant to look Swedish - it was just which of those possibilities it was that I was unsure on.
This might seem like an odd reply but I just love dutch. It's such a fun language that in my personal head (as opposed to my official head) sounds like a mix between swedish, german and english. Sort of like the words are more like german-english but the way the sentences are constructed are quite similar to swedish.
Well, they're not actually murderers, and Peej knows this. So, it's not that insulting. I mean, this is a series where she blew her secret identity the first day on the job and didn't even know until the blackmail, which she can do jack shit about, showed up on her front door. When stuff like that is on the table, you have to raise the bar for incompetence a bit just to keep up.
They are too murderer's. Anez killed a man. It may have been accidental, but (a) that's still a crime and (b) it means they're dangerous. If Carl hadn't showed up, Anez would have killed those hit men as well.
Playing the irresponsible princess angle is fine. Having Anez's gun go off, shooting over the crowd and scaring everyone, is fine. But when they kill someone, even by accident, and the hero of the book is all right with it and goes to buy furniture...nng.
You do realize Carl is the hero of the story, right? Power Girl didn't catch the party girls; Carl led her to them, Carl helped talk Anez down from de-aging Power Girl, and it was Carl who is keeping an eye on the girls in Rio. A jet pack with Wikipedia access could do what Power Girl did in the last two issues.
Ah, yes. I see where I was mistaken. I keep forgetting people don't judge ever Power Girl on great she is, but rather on how she doesn't suck as much as she potentially could. Thank you for reminding me of that.

Why isn't it December yet? Why can't Empowered come out every month?
The kind where Huntress never joined the Birds of Prey. Instead, when Savant kidnapped Dinah, Oracle called in Jesse Quick to search every house in Gotham City...because, to quote from the actual, fantasy dialog, "Screw Batman's meta policy, my partner's in trouble." Then, after the day was saved, Jesse joined the Birds, using her business administration skills to help Oracle grow the team and realizing she and Dinah shared similar experiences both with their mother's disapproval and being the kid of the JSA.
That's the kind of fantasy world I live in, thank you for asking. :)
The internet had made comic book writers obsolete. We can tell our own stories just as well, but people who can illustrate them will always be a precious commodity.
I find the stories of this series not particularly compelling, not to say a bit boring, but Connor’s art is just great, and this page here is near perfection. I guess I would appreciate the following announcement from DC:
“Since no villain is foolish enough to attack Powergirl’s home town, our next few issues will chronicle Peej’s everyday life, with lots of shopping and cinema visits with Atlee, drawn by Amanda Connor.”
Amanda Connor, much like Ed Benes, is the kind of artist whose skills are only hampered by narratives from the so-called "writers." DC would do well just to let artists like Connor and her colorist draw 22 pages of whatever every month, pay them 150% the going artist rate, and bank whatever they save not paying the writer and editor.
I'm 99.9% sure I'm dropping Power Girl next time I get to the comic shop, and I can tell you fer dang shore it's not because of the art.
browsers assume angle brackets (or at least less than signs) mean you're making a tag. you can get around that by using < and > instead. < gives you < and > gives you >.
Ok this is adorable. More comics should have the main cast just hanging out, doing somethign fun, dialouge optional. Silent panels are a great tool that needs to be used more often. Had it been on tv there it would have been a montage with music.
All the fake swedish is hilarious. Love "Buk Cajs" and "Äslip" XD Tho must say I'm ashamed how long it took me to decipher "Tejsti-rohls". I was like "Wait how am I supposed to say this? It seems more like polish or dutch or something..." Duh... english....
Also seeing "kuki" shocked me a bit, since "kuk" is kinda a rude word in swedish and there aren't really any other words with similar spellings to it, so it's probably unlikely to see words like that in IKEA.

I'd buy that, even for more than a dollar.
Who else thinks that in panel 3, Terra is trying to decide whether or not the tongs are really a speculum?
