Guardians of the Galaxy #10

Writers: Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning

Pencils: Brad Walker

Inks: Victor Olazaba and John Livesay

The Guardians of the Galaxy arrive just in time to save the Negative Zone prison being held under siege by Blastaar's forces.

The Guardians inform Earth's heroes that they have yet again saved them all from a planet-ending threat.

Shut up, Gauntlet. Nobody likes you.

All indications (given Jack doesn't mention anyone else left behind) are that Jack was indeed the only hero stuck in there by that point.
Possibly related that he's the only legitimate hero the Thunderbolts managed to catch.
And only then because Bullseye gouged him in the spine.

They did a Cloaked de-improsimentation, yup. Why they left Jack behind, that I wonder though.

Digitek's corpse might also have been left behind. If it is a corpse, since shooting a digital man in the head, when his processor is in his heart, might not be as deadly as for a regular person.

But Jack was imprisoned after Civil War.

In all fairness to the New Avengers, they were a little busy between then and Secret Invasion.
And Jack's only major interaction with anyone was with Steve, who was suffering a bad case of sort-of dead, so it can sort of be forgiven for no-one knowing about him.
(Heck, at this point between here and coming back to die in Spencer's run on Cap - *stops to mutter something* - Jack appeared more in Guardians than he had anywhere else.)

Now, why Iron Man and SHIELD were continuing to use a prison after it had already been the scene of a major break-out is unclear.
After all, what sort of idiot keeps using a prison that it's easy to break everyone out of?

"After all, what sort of idiot keeps using a prison that it's easy to break everyone out of?"

...what other kind of prisons are there?

Prisons that can't be broken out of?
(I think they're the ones where prisoners are asked very nicely if they would mind not escaping.)

At least not during their unsupervised holidays.
