Justice Society Dark is a mini-series I'd like to see

I just want more of the Justice Alliance he describes, as composed of Prince Ra-Man, Tiger-Man, Automan, Captain Comet and Congorilla. As someone pointed out, it's got a real Agents of Atlas vibe.

I like the concept of the Justice Alliance, but I really wish they’d found some contemporary female character to include.

So, Milestone has replaced Wildstorm as the line they're half-assedly trying to include in the main continuity. When they remember to. Or care to. Not often.

There aren't a lot of comics with Wildstorm characters at the moment but I'd be surprised if they don't also include Wildstorm characters if for no other reason than how much The Authority factors into their upcoming movie plans

I vastly prefer Milestone being allowed to exist as its own world, rather than be awkwardly incorporated into Prime Earth. Mainly because as we've seen before, Static just becomes yet another random Teen Titan in a sea of young heroes, and Icon is just Black Superman. Hardware is just Angrier Steel...

I liked the brief inclusion of several Milestone heroes in the Young Justice animated series, but even there, they were kinda part of the crowd for the most part except for Rocket.

They work so much better when in a world designed for them to be unique and properly effective/impactful. The OG Milestone run was brilliant. The later attempts to incorporate them into DC were inconsistent, and the most recent reboot has been decent with mixed success. (And bringing in Brainiac as a villain, ugh.)

So it will be interesting to see how Milestone is used in Waid's History.

(And for what it's worth, I hate Wildstorm as part of Prime Earth also, and my argument as to why they should be their own separate world is long and passionate.)

I'm not sure how much I trust Barry Allen as narrator.

Same. For one thing, some of the more... mysterious stuff like the Endless and any non-Biblical elements of Lucifer's backstory seem like they'd be beyond Barry's knowledge and understanding, no matter how many parallel worlds he's vibrated his way to. (Eclipso, Wotan, and maybe some other enemies of The Spectre and Dr. Fate interact more with the super-hero world, so I can see him picking up facts about them.)

40 years ago getting DC's history courtesy of Harbinger and the Monitor's files seemed like better justification for privileged info about cosmology and higher powers.

Now if the Phantom Stranger were the framing device, I'd have no qualms about anything he narrated.

It's always fun to remember the " superheroes didn't significantly affect World War II because the Nazis had holy artifacts ", because that factoid strongly associates very Christian things with the Nazis.

You've got to wonder what long-term socioreligious effects that fact had in-universe - at the very least, some post-WWII Nazi with knowledge of the facts screaming " God was on our side! "

(Thinking about it, it'd be another form of " So God allows this sort of thing to happen in the world, then. " for a lot of people.)

This is true. The Axis powers having the Spear of Destiny and Holy Grail and using those to keep America's more powerful mystery men out of the war was a really ... interesting explanation, and I guess it ties in nicely with the historical fact of some high-ranking Nazis being into the occult but...

I liked the explanation in The Golden Age that it was all a cover story for a Nazi agent named Parcival.

I'd love to see what sort of weird conspiracy theories this would raise in 2025 though, when almost everyone would scoff at the idea of Hitler having the Spear in the first place.

Moreover, I'd love to see a story where people actually wrestled with the fact that the Spear and Grail were real, that the Spectre really did act as God's wrath, and how that related to Christianity in general. What does it mean to have faith in a world where tangible proof exists?

I'm sure most folks just rationalize away things like the Spectre, or Zauriel acting as superheroes, much like they probably rationalize away anything else that doesn't suit their worldview (Blue Devil, Etrigan, etc) but...

So we're back to Hippolyta being the Wonder Woman of the Justice Society in the 1940s? I thought after Doomsday Clock Diana's birth had been pushed way backwards and it was supposed to have been her in the golden age.

The New History of the DC Universe! ... which, given DC's track record, will be just in time for it to be rendered redundant by the next big crisis rebooting everything.

Four issues seems like a very tight cram for eighty years of history.
Unless the last issue is "and then the universe was rebooted. And then the universe was rebooted. And then the universe was rebooted. Then Amanda Waller went completely off the deep end. (oh, and then the universe was reimagined.)"
But given the solicits say issue 3 only gets up to the first Crisis, that's apparently twenty-six years in one issue.

"Accidentally killed. Deliberately straight-up killed. Same dif."
Not familiar with every version of Dr. Fate's origin, but there is at least one version where that was the case.

Lots of interesting ideas, though not happy they’re sticking with the Superman Project from Doomsday Clock. That seemed like one best erased.
