Sold. I've always wondered if pulp serials could make a comeback in this format. There are some YouTube videos produced today that, in comparison, probably had about the same budget as back then.
After all, this can't be any worse than the horrendously bad Flash Gordon series.
Nice idea, but the devil of these things is not the hardware, which nearly always looks good (and this seems to be borrowing from the marvellous CGI Captain Scarlet) but what the PEOPLE are like, anywhere between poor proportions to uncanny valley, it's REALLY hard to pull off. The fact they're NOT showing any of the people worries me a little.
They haven't cast anybody yet except the lead -- so they don't have any footage of people to show, but they want to start letting people know about it and generate enthusiasm NOW. Hence the rather boring teaser.
The main thing this tells us is that 1) there's going to be another Buck Rogers show, and 2) this time, they're going for a retro-future aesthetic.
Hee, Ultimates Steve should get a kick out of that.
Interesting comparison, but I wouldn't put money on it, since the primary story of "Space Chase" (Farscape's original name until they decided that they wanted, essentially, a googlewhack for web searches) was John Crichton getting home, which is never a possibility in Buck Rogers.

In fact, I just found an article that says who he's playing:
"Playing Buck's parents were Gil Gerard and Erin Gray..."
